Wasp, Stinger, Crusader, Chameleon, Merlin
Locust IIC, Commando IIC, UrbanMech IIC, Stinger IIC,
Mercury http://www.sarna.net...ury_(BattleMech)
Mackie http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mackie
Clint http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Clint
etc.
If limited to 1 then I'd pick Mackie because it was the first.
Was in extremely high demand for many years, so much demand that its plans got stolen and was manufactured by several other companies and from its longevity it should have more variants then we can shake a stick at.

Crusader, urbanmech iic, phoenix hawk iic, griffin iic, wasp, stinger and Valkyrie.... and (this will never happen... but... I’d also like the battle cobra). Oh oh and a behemoth (Stone Rhino)

PGI would probably do a great job modernizing those designs.

Also, I'm not sure if they plan on introducing any IS omnimechs anytime soon.

there IS a Bolt on for the Zeus that gives him that classic pic look, the dorsal fins on his back from one of the classic pic:s. i think they came 4 or 3 patches ago ingame ingame, somewhere is the pic in the patchnotes, lets see if i find them: just ### that they fall off when hitted, they look awesome. The first bolt on that looks good

It is not a huge deal IMO. There are mechs like a Hunchback or Hellspawn in the game already (with quirked components). I piloted the Hellspawn quite a bit and it is was harder to protect CT for me than a huge missile torso or a missile arm. Honestly I don't remember ever losing the missile arm on the Hellspawn. I was using the light engine on it and after some matches decided that it is pretty XL-safe.

The "Clint", "Hermes II", "Whitworth", and "Dervish".
It would be nice to have all the mechs from that book, that I still have, from 1988!
