Hello mechwarriors

I used to play this game a lot back in 2015. Looking to get back into it.

I played 3 or 4 games this morning and man a lot changed.

I play mostly my jagers and firebrand. I noticed a lot of new weapons... rotaries and such. What's the meta nowadays, how should I equip my mechs? What new mech should I try? Throw it at me pls!

I also have a centurion and a nova rusting somewhere.

I am aware of ghost heat and familiar with the first batch of clan mechs.

triple RAC-2, dual heavy gauss assaults and quad LBX10 Annihilators are popular with I.S. currently.

The Firebrand can be good with dual HPPC. The Assassin has completely replaced the Oxide in fast splat.

Check mechs perks in the store before you buy

When you skill up mech SKILLS use historic skill points first and Mech skill points second as they can only be used on the current mech.

Beware the SkilTree changes:
- Mechs each have a Skill Tree which takes C-Bills and XP to unlock.
- a full Skill Tree has 91 Active Points used; you can unlocked all 200+ on each mech but that is generally a waste of c-bills.
- if you completed Basic, Expert or Master under the old system you will have a pool of grandfathered Skill Points to Transfer/Use.
- you no longer need 3 variants of each mech

As far as mechs, Jagers still do dakka:
- The old meta was 3UAC5s is still viable, but squishy due to XL engine.
- Double UAC10s work on any Jager, go great with a new Light Fusion Engine.
- Be sure to unlock Advanced Zoom on the top right of the Sensors SkillTree

What is the advantage of the new light engine? Seems very similar to xl but with 1 more free slot in each Side torso? Anything more to it?

The IS light engine operates more like the clan XL engine in functionality and benefits, but weighs more. The benefits being, you can lose one side torso and not die, but losing both and you're dead (you do lose some heat cooling and engine speed to the loss of a side torso, as do the Clans).

Quad AC2 works on my Rifleman. Probably would work on a Jaeger.
