I would like to ask your recommendation for a strong IS Mech as given the current "rebalancing" of clan-lasers I'm losing interest in them.

I've narrowed it down to the WHM or the MAD (because I like the chassis) but have not decided on a variant or a build.
What would you consider to be the top mech right now?
Thx a lot in advance!

Why not both? :-)

I like and have often used the Marauder (different variants), But (and isn't there always a But) look at them from the side those torsos are Huge. With XL's this is not the problem it once was but still, easier to take out torsos mounted weapons. Just saying.

WHM is better.

WHM-6D with 3 LL + 4-5 ERML, or WHM-6R with 2 Gauss + 4 ERML (or any one of a dozen variant builds with different ballistics).

Both are really strong, lack of defensive quirks is clear indication. But i would give an edge to Marauder for durability and JJ, while Warhammer have better weapon points and a bit better agility, because of a difference in design they tend to play differently, so its up to yours style preference. Running XL on both chassis is risky .

marauder is tankier, better hardpoints at the warhammer.

you ll end up buying both in the end so it does not matter. Posted Image

Finally i ended up not using the high balllistic hardpoint on the marauder because i got annoyed loosing that always.

I would recommend you to get either a MAD-3R or a WHM-6R. Both of them are the strongest variants.
MAD-3R is tanky (as well as all the other marauders) and is a really good carrier for ballistic weapons.
WHM-6R is really versatile and can run a lot of builds effectively.
You should get both of those if you can.

I get good scores with both mechs. The Warhammer plays almost like a slower, tankier Hellbringer. You need to torso twist allot but it's a great brawler once you get the timing down. The Marauder is a great face-towards-enemy mid rang mech with a good mix of both high alpha builds to DPS daka builds that can compete with many IS Assaults.

Triple RAC-2 MAD-3R is very powerful currently.

I've always found the Warhammer to be a great beginner IS Mech. Granted OPs post is half a month old now, and you may have already purchased your mech of choice. But, the Warhammer is such a versatile mech in any of it's chassis' - especially the 6R. I recently updated my 6R with a light engine, 2 AC10s, and 4ML. It's basic, but gets the job done.
