Geesh, I bought a 1080 Ti 8 months ago, should I really move to a RTX? I need to find out if RTRT is only available on RTX card or 1080 cards can also do it but are just less powerful.

Maybe this is why it was pushed back. They might have realized they'd get some free publicity alongside some top end games. Plus it would make the graphics look less 'dated' as some youtube commenters said. Which I think is BS, it looked good enough for me. But then I don't run things on a 4K monitor and a huge resolution. ;o

I can't added a new video card now. Especially with Nvidia's massive price increases for this new gen.

ohh new tech. I might have to upgrade my gtx 660 in a few years. Such a drag my car needs 800$ of work done this winter. 2020 maybe. Being on the so-small-low-budget-gamer isn't low enough. As cheap as building a pc is I really need a laptop for my other non gaming needs.

Demand for Nvidia GPUs is decreasing as crypto miners opt more in favor of ASICs.

Wait awhile prices should decline. Especially around christmas with black friday sales etc.

I really do not give two licks about real time ray tracing. I only care about whether the game is optimized enough to run smoothly on my PC.

Hopefully mining disappears forever. No one needs it.

Games could use the new gpus rather poorly. In at least one stage demo I was not impressed, but MW5 will be using the new tech more than some others. Should be really nice to not have fake lights anymore.

I will try to wait for the next Nvidia gpus and have two generations of rtx to choose from

Er...nope?

Real time raytracing is coming with the recently announced RTX family Nvidia cards, so it will be a thing in high end gaming rigs from next year onwards.

It's still much more important that MW5 looks good on current gen cards of course, as the new features won't work even on a 1080ti and not many people will be able to afford the new cards for quite a while.

I mean I'm not about to ditch my 1080 as long as it can run new AAA games in 1440 high settings, which seems like it will be able to do for a couple more years at least.

If my business keeps going well I might be inclined to invest in a quadro card for video editing and rendering, and that would give me a chance to experience the ray tracing features....but a new 4K DSLR (I really want to get a Sony a7 iii) and gimbal crane is way higher on my priority list at the moment.

It does and it will be sort of a Techdemo...aside of that Nvidia will keep it Nvidia Exclusive so Radeon and Intel User wont have it - which makes it a Dead Born from the very beginning.

for me ...Raytracing not interesting..
honestly in a Vehivle war game I do not have to see in 500m if flies mirror in its windshield or cockpit or in house fronts before falling together .. I made BF 2 fun without all the graphics gimmicks that either strain the eyes, distract or turn off in order not to disguise against others who play without all these graphics games udn you see so much better .. or blue filters, which turn the garfikpracht then again in an "Underworld Movie" ... I like to play War Thundner, and the matte finishes The vehicles I like better than the plastic armor here udn BF2 I like it better read BF3 with all its over-effects often more disturbing with their blinding effects or let me doubt if this was an opponent or one of my team.And BF V is for me only a Instantaction-Avengerhero Dieselpunk -style game with Motion sickness factor and ended with BF3 and his "Buy a mappack DLC"

if they are adding ground combat there should be missions where you get captured and sent to prison and have the option to plan a break out like in mw2.

So what, nvidia should release their ray tracing hardware for free just so that games would use it more? That's not how you make money.
