True, but it still should never be accepted. Selfish play is the worst play and should be an object of scorn. Maybe it's a cultural thing, if so it needs to change. As I get older entitlement is even spreading to flippin' online games.
"I'm special and I'll do what I want."
*sigh*
Oh yes ! A lot of games are built around what " I " can do. Look at the Fallout 76 that is dropping in November.... Now, a cooperative game versus the decades of single player story lines. That game company is sweating huge bullets over what will or will not happen when it goes live. Some are concerned it "may just not work" because of toxic game play..... Which, seems to be the rule of late.
What yet another shooting at a gaming event. In another game last night in chat, "threats against the player and the family of a player..." Yes, reported to the host corporation AND reported to Federal Agencies..... A SWAT'ing a few months ago that resulted in a death.
Yes, the "lack of consequence" generation is creating nightmares everywhere. I think academia may call them the "Like generation" because they are so self absorbed about
self-confirmation they can't exist without it because they have been removed from competition..... A perfect "servant" society ready for the taking and subjugation of.... Oh, yes, we are so very close to a crisis of epic proportions my friend. It's why I live so very far from people !
I hope games figure this out. PGI, has a process..........whether they follow it or do anything has yet to be seen. It may be simply too late as many have said? I don't know.
