So got a loyalty Javelin coming.

My last mech purchase was the Wolfhound, which performed phenomenally for me at the time, (mastered all four when mastery was a thing, Grinner wasn't around yet); and if I squint and pucker all my orifices I can still do "okayish" after the embiggening.. more my fault and lack of consistent playing over the last couple of years than the mechs... still feels like lights aren't in a great place right now, but that's another thread.

Anyhoo, got this Javelin coming because I snagged a cheap pack of MC (to get the Javelin). And considering purchasing a Javelin with the MC just to have something to do.

So... how is it? Side torsi look awful. Stil have to run max XL I'm sure. Can the srm variants put out enough to be worthwhile? Or just bite the bullet and stick to laser vomit?

The 6xSRM-2 variant is a reasonable boom-and-zoom machine IMO. Think smaller assassin.

Javelin feels like an inferior version of the Assassin. The DPS of 6xASRM JVN-10P is very good, but it has a bit sluggish handling and is big enough to be an easy target.

I like a lot of other lights much more. My biggest gripe is handling, it is just not twitchy enough to be fun.

It is not really a bad mech, but there are better options in its niches.

I'm a big fan of my JVN-10F, but that's because it's got double AMS so I can be a missile umbrella for my team while I'm waiting for the enemy team to close in so I can start pulse laser shenanigans. It'll be interesting to see how the 11F plays.

There really aren't better options though, honestly. If you're looking for an SRM boating light mech with jump jets that moves fast, there is no other good choice. The Javelin JVN-10P is pretty much it.

It would be very dumb to waste MC on such an inexpensive mech. Most of the cost is in the upgrading not the initial purchase cost. You wouldn't be saving anything by using MC.

Good mech, just don't use MC.

I've really enjoyed the Javelins!

10P (6xSRM2): As others have said, the 6xSRM2 JVN-10P is pretty solid! I run it with a coupla jump jets, and it roughly fills the niche that the Oxide did before the rescale.

10F (4ERML 2AMS): I run this as an assault escort/team support 'mech with an undergunned LFE. It's a bit tankier, a bit hotter, but if you play it close to the fatties, you can put out some solid damage (400+ on a good game) and shoot down a bunch of Lurms. Unfortunately, it doesn't do well on Solaris City, and is mediocre on other close maps.

11B (3SRM4 ECM): Similar to the 10P in performance, I have a slightly harder time without JJ. ECM theoretically lets you sneak up on fatties, but I'm not great with it. If ECM is your thing tho.

11A (4ML 3SL): This is far and away my best Javelin. Right mix of mobility and firepower for me, seems to fit the old JR7-F 6ML role as a mobile laser harrasser.

Hi There! : I haven't had much luck with this one yet, I tried running Bara's MRM20 build, but MRMs aren't my thing. Otherwise its hardpoint layout is very much like the Jenner D and K (have you noticed? I used to main Jenners...)

I'll second what Spheroid says, while noting that I bought the 11A, 11B, and HT with MC at the last sale. Didn't pay full price, but I don't regret the purchase one bit. It turned out to be cheaper than buying the rest of the mechpack for cash (I bought the Basic pack when it came out), and I wanted the 'mechs and didn't want to grind. In the end it's up to you and your priorities; but since you went with the smallest amount of MC, I'm guessing you're not a big spender on MWO, in which case it might be better to steward those MC for a more impactful purchse.

Unless you've got no C-Bills. Nothing to save except time.

Over $800 later, nah, not a big spender anymore. (Elite Founders, Invasion, Resistance, Whammy + Marauder; almost every hero up till whenever I quit). Impact doesn't matter, I don't play more than once a week anymore. (Team captain passed away from cancer, rest of us just... kinda... drifted). Just tickled to see another IS light

The posts here don't do the javelin credit. It's quite nimble compared to other lights, can take a little beating, and it can run whatever you wish. My favorite builds are:
4x SRM4
2x SRM4 4x SRM2
6x SRM2
4x MPL
3x LPPC (high hardpoints)

I'm a big fan of the 10P. I'll take it over the Wolfhound in most FW decks.
