Hi all,
I have no sound at all, from portal intro to in game.
I have tried everything I can think of. Drivers are up to date, made sure it wasn't muted, reinstalled game.

Here is my log. Assume that "Error: Cannot initialize soundsystem" is the issue?

This appears to be a Cryengine related thing. Below is the only thread I could find for MWO itself. Have you made any changes in your sound manager lately?

https://mwomercs.com...denly-no-sound/

Change the number of channels in your sound manager.

From elsewhere...

Ok, I would just think that nobody is playing this game at this year.
But here is a solution... its sooo simple. The sys_spec_Sound.cfg shows you that the game has a "predilection" for 48k sound. There.. just go to the windows sound options, and change de quality of the sound to 24 bit, 48000 hz. Nothing to do with 2.0, 5.1 or 7.1... thats just fine.

Ahhh see this is interesting as I have the same no sound issue on cities skylines (except that i mysteriously have sound using bluetooth earphones) and some people found that changing the quality to 16bit fixed the issue. Unfortunately neither 16bit or 24bit fixes my issue for MWO or CS.
I currently have a workaround though. I have a dirt cheap external soundcard i used as a USB aux adapter (broke my aux port on my old laptop) which means i have sound using earphones external speakers via the USB external soundcard.
I'm more inclined to think it the geforce graphics card which is causing the issue? I think i've read somewhere that others have noticed similar problems.

Looks like your using FMOD
FMOD is a proprietary sound effects engine and authoring tool for video games and applications developed by Firelight Technologies, that play and mix sounds of diverse formats on many operating systems.

Try disabling FMOD and run the game without it and just use your Realtek speakers
This will eliminate the possabilty that FMOD is causing the problem.

seeing as you've now included that your getting no sound on bluetooth headphones, thats likely to be where your problem is ... and seeing as its not listed here

I'm not overly surprised its not working on that device ...

Ummm that would definitely leave you with no sound, seeing as the game depends on it ?

Thanks for the suggestions, sorry took a while to reply I've been really busy. I didn't have my bluetooth earphones on the time so probably why they didn't appear in the log.
I tried uninstalling the realtek drivers and using the default "High Definition Audio Device" to see if it is a realtek issue but still no luck.
I am unfamiliar with FMOD. How would I disable it to investigate if it is causing the issue?

FMOD is the sound engine used by the cryengine (it is used in cryengine, unreal engine and many games today, on XBOX, PlayStation, PC)

From reading the logs, FMOD detects the realtek onboard sound correctly.
Then it select a 7.1 sound configuration and fails to start.

Are you using a 7.1 sound configuration ?

If not, you should go to the playback sound properties in windows and set the sound configuration you are using (stereo, 5.1 etc)

Ok so saw this post today
https://superuser.co...s-on-windows-10

Turns out there is a wider issue with modern games and sonic studio (which I believe is automatically installed on many ASUS devices). I disregarded sonic studio at first as i had everything switched off so thought there could not be an issue. I have just uninstalled sonic studio 3 and sonic radar. I can confirm I now have sound on Cities Skylines, MWO and Battlefield 5 (all of which i had the same issue). Finally I have sound!!!!!!

Thanks everyones help, greatly appreciated. :)
