So right now I have a potato laptop and been using it for
MWo for years. I have to play on low settings and even then
My FPS sucks. So I saved up enough to get this laptop I wanted

I know desktops are better but I need to be able to move
This thing alot. So here is what Im getting.

Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 - 1TB Hard Drive

It's in my price range and I can get it in a few days.

I know Its 100 times better than what I have now and
From the research I have done it should be able to play
MWO well. And as I said my performance sucks hard right now

My current laptop is basically fried. Pushed it too far and
Now it's acting funny and I basically live off MWO.

Is this going to be ok for MWo?

Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 - 1TB Hard Drive

I think it should be fine
my laptop is the Xiaomi Notebook Pro, running an i5-8250U, 8GBDDR4, MX150, overclocked both CPU and GPU.
Around 60FPS in 1600x900, medium settings

Your's is way better than mine. GTX1050 is a decent card, so dont worry

It'll be fine.

Don't run everything on high settings though, lots can be turned to Low without any real impact other then a heap of FPS increases.

CPU is more issue than GPU. GPU will be fine.

small bit of advice - they also offer a laptop with the same configuration but a 1050ti for the video card.
the 1050 ti is overclocked compared to the base 1050, and it runs hotter, but the performance gain is worth it if you play titles other than mechwarrior.

If you give your price limit and country, you'll get much better advice

You're going to be limited by the CPU speed of the mobile i5. Should be able to play 60 fps low settings 1600x900 or something like that.

I just want to be able to play with medium settings on good fps. Anything is better than what I have now honestly

Should be running fine even on high, don't expect stable FPS though, it's a bane of this game no matter what config. I'd also buy cooling pad if I were you, because GTX 1050 may be getting pretty hot in MWO, even on low. Will just extend the life of your laptop is all.

Should be fine. A little more RAM would probably be better, but I doubt it will be make-or-break.

Yep, RAM is not even close to the issue. CPU as we've all stated.

I tried out MWO on a laptop with an i7 6700HQ + GTX 1060 6GB, with settings of 1980x1080 and medium, my fps would fluctuate anywhere between 35-80. It was supposed to replace my current laptop that has a i7 4700HQ + 2x GTX 765M, which also gets fps of 35-80. MWO is severely CPU bound, to the point that it can't properly feed good graphics cards unless the CPU is running at high Ghz (4.2+).

I typically play on my desktop (specs in signature), the laptop is only for when I'm on break at work. I'm only telling you this as a warning to temper your expectations for how MWO will perform on the laptop that you're looking to get.

Maybe it's just me being used to running 3 or 4 other potential RAM hogs at the same time. /shrug

i think my only reason for going with 16 this time is because ive been running 8gb for years. also i can mess around with virtual machines, ram disks and the like.

What would feel like day and night is using a SSD instead of a 5400rpm mobile HDD though.
For more than MWO or gaming.

Well it does help having lots of RAM so you can do stuff in the background while waiting on FP :D

That would run totally fine!

Im using an old laptop that I bought last 6 years with GT750m and I5-4700 and run sluggish, but in two - three weeks time, Im gonna be buying and building my own desktop! So Im excited to have a smoother gameplay and can crank up the setting from low to maybe medium - high..
