This isnt an "Im leaving MWO" thread.

But, unfortunately, after six years Im once again in one of those dangerous ratios where my love of Btech and MW games is actually lower than the vitriolic disdain I have for PGI and how absolutely inept they have been.

To put it in a unique perspective, my daughter was born right when the Beta came out and I joined as a founder. She is now six and in 1st grade...for literally her entire life, PGI has been ******* up. Think about that. Its like if for your entire life, the Post Office has been delivering burning garbage to mailboxes every other Tuesday.

She doesnt want to watch/play MWO. No, she wants to watch/play other, better games.

I just...ugh, man, maybe its because my winter season is here and my training load is higher? Im not drinking as much because of it and I cant just have a bunch of Dragon's Milk and move past the silliness.

Im just saying, can PGI please do something good? Soon? Like do something actually proper, dont half *** it, actually deliver, on ANYTHING. Any kind of feature. Do SOMETHING that makes me as a player be like, "Eeey, you know kid, you can be alright some times!". I need a moment like that. ****.

Be realistic, the game is very old, and it was never that great to begin with. The only reason we're here is because it lets us pilot mechs and everyone here either likes the idea of playing 2 legged future tanks, or is a lorenerd and is/was a big fan of the universe, or some combination of both. Given the types of games available in 2018, there is absolutely no other reason to play MWO

Plus some of the community are really fun people to play with

Youre saying theres no hope for a minimally viable arena shooter with bad game modes and inept developers to improve as it nosedives into an ocean?

It's not nosediving though, it's basically just as meh as it ever was, we lost some playstyles because they were "OP" (some very questionable rebalancing decisions), and added a bunch of modes nobody really likes, but other than that it hasn't really changed much in a very long time. Some people are ok with that and keep playing, others get bored and leave. It's pretty normal for a game life cycle

Dude, no offence, but are you insane? You trying to hook up 6 yo girl on MWO?... I know many old dudes who wouldn't be able to stand it. It's EXTREMELY niche both as lore (BT) and specifically as a game. It's not simulator in any way possible, but isn't arcade (OW/CS/COD-esque) enough for MAJORITY of population out there. And I can imagine how much of a snoozefest it is to watch. If it wouldn't be so immersive and cozy for my degenerated brain to actually get crazy joy from just sitting insight a cockpit, mech designs and etc, I'm sure MechWalker Online would go out into the trashcan for me fast.

On the other note, you didn't specify what are you exactly so unhappy about, though I can imagine, really... not sure how important that is though. As folks above said, PGI didn't do nothing to the game in very-very long time. Solaris was a fail, at very least delivered in wrong time for a game with wrong gameplay design for it. Other than that, their baby step patches only apply tiny-teeny changes to the gameplay which can be felt by only die hard vets out there, so no big, real changes in a whole picture, which means it's basically the same game it was long time ago, and they definitely didn't broke anything at least. If you did enjoy it at some point, you still should, unless you simply got bored, as people tend to, which is ok. And yeah, it is so old at this point that waiting anything big happening (besides pulling the plug, lol) is futile and completely unreasonable to expect.

My daughter went from playing Pokemon, then Clash of Clans, and finally she's in Mobile Legends. She tried to get me hooked into Mobile Legends but MOBAs are not my thing, if not I would have been playing League of Legends long ago. If you don't know what Mobile Legends is, its LoL clone that is now one of the most popular games in Planet Earth right now.

I noticed that a lot of young'uns are not just into PC games, they don't want anything to do with a PC at all. By games they mean mobile games. And besides, a lot of these millennials are not just playing games on their iPhones, for their PCs they are likely to own a Mac, which seriously cuts down on the game compatibility list.

Just the platform choices will cut MWO out from a very wide base.

Also kids get these Chromebooks from school, or parents buy them for their kids for school use. These Chromebooks, especially those 2 in 1 types with touchscreens, can run Android apps, including Android games such as the Android versions of Fortnite and PUBG. Which is what kids want to play now, if they are not playing Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor or Pokemon Go. I also notice that parents borrow their smartphones and tablets to their kids, with games, sort of like a pacifier to keep them occupied. Later these kids ask for smartphones themselves.

I'm just playing less now a days, just tired of the same ol same ol. My biggest gripe is the constant tweaking things and they just wont leave things alone. The game in my opinion is worse then it was back before the engine desynch. Another is the lack of players in QP who just go for Murderballing, NASCARing and doing everything but fighting like a team. I know not everyone agrees with any of this and that's ok. But I also know there are plenty who agree too.
As for PGI, sigh....stop with the micro managing this game and just think outside of the box. Time to do something different instead of the same ol.

I mean..... Honestly, I can't blame OP.
After 5 1/2 years of nothing all that impressive, but for the most part was stuff I just learned to adapt to N keep going......... Then every patch this year since April has made the game less and less fun (or just been inconsequential) even I've had trouble continuing to care.

I swear I just keep going outta habit (I'll be honest 90% the reason I've stuck around is cause it's free and I've enough stuff I haven't had to spend anything in years) but I keep finding myself 2 minutes into match and going "well, I know how this ends" n just losing give a darn.

Idk....i honestly hope they do something to make the game seem more fun again (stead of constant "Balance" changes that completely miss what they aimed for n **** up 20 other things) but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I'd be willing to bet even PGI has realized (after the fact, ALWAYS after the fact) how bad they're doing n that's why they keep Pumping out sales and events n a desperate bet to try and keep around what few of us remain........

If I had to bet how this ends.....poorly..... But hey, MechCon n MW5 soon!!! ^_^

Oh I should have clarified, it used to fill her with wonder/glee/etc...I have pictures of her sitting on my lap while Im playing. It taught her what red team/blue team is, she learned a lot of the mech names, etc...it was a nice nostalgic memory to have. But the game is so stale that even she has moved on to greener pastures.

To be fair, a lot of this thread was filling in the checkmark "Have you done your bi-annual 'MWO is a garbagefire that's moving at the speed of a glacier developmentally' post" and I almost missed my quota.

The way it is now, you won't have to say I'm leaving..... because everybody is. I have watched pretty much 80%+ of the people I know stop playing, why is that?

Well no new maps, no real improvements, really poor balancing act, and the same old same old gameplay is stale as hell= no fun, but hey we got solaris right? Did I mention no new maps, and I won't mention the crappy voting system that makes it so we only play on 2-3 of the maps we have, of course I don't want to play solaris city either, what a **** of a map.

You won't have to leave, there will soon be no one playing.

Wanna buy a mech pack, or maybe some tickets to mechcon?

Even as a week-old newbie, I can understand gripes. It wouldn't be as bad as it is if the match making was good. If I try going through a group, I can barely play 2 matches in an hour. What's the point in creating a group with friends only to wait till we grow old together without actually doing what we came here to do?

Today, I thought I'd level my new Javelin 11F. My, God! The teams that I've ended up with..... Assaults running after lights, mediums being stagnant, too afraid to move forward. Heavies launching missiles into cover. I mean, I get it. The game wants to make sure the action doesn't stop and it's up to the players to co-ordinate between themselves. But going from Quick Play to any other game mode is like going from a train station to the space station. I can't play Faction Play yet 'cause my mechs aren't upgraded. The middle ground is Solaris? Really?

Out of 18 or so matches that I played today, 3, Three, (THREEE!!!) matches where the team was how a team is supposed to be in a game like this. This just goes to show that either the veterans are too high a level to bother with Quick Play and just hang around in Faction Play or they just don't play the game anymore.

It gets worse as your tier goes up. Much more fun in T4 than higher.

The salt is flung around with such venom, it makes me wish I could play by myself.

I wouldn't bother quitting this game is already in its death throws and well beyond borrowed time. I bet it will be dead by all intents and purposes by early next year.

And yes the repeated bury their head in the sand attitude by PGI or either total incompetence is glaringly obvious.

With teams and matches as miserable as they are now there is clearly zero evidence of any match making or team balancing going on whatsoever. And some players of the game are so useless it's no wonder people are leaving left right and centre.

You have to be careful with it because at 11% and being quite tasty they can really sneak up on you.

I actually stopped drinking them strictly for the caloric content, one regular 12oz is like 320ish calories: :o I like their new black bottle/packaging though.

QQ more, make more vague whiney posts, but whatever you do don't just quietly play something else! The community in matches is phenomenal but this forum community is only matched for sheer dourness by the EVE forums. MWO doesn't dispense handjobs and it doesn't have every mech or possible game mode but it is a free game that managed to move away from strict endgame metas and focus heavily on positioning, coordination, and tactical awareness in a at I haven't seen its ilk pull off before. It's not perfect but it's a decent representation f what being part of a mech skirmish could feel like and that's all I wanted.

Sincerely though, lighten the **** up.

The game is, IMO, pretty much fine. It could use new content, improved (or NO) MM and a way for smaller groups to do well (and no, scouting is not it).

For the most part, the issues are player-created, again, in my opinion. People can be such turds to each other. There's always the angry "YOU guys suck", with the implied, "But I'm the GREATEST" at the end of most losing matches, particularly in higher tiers. Makes me want to turn comms off. I don't because occasionally, VERY occasionally, there is coherent, intelligent chat instead of "you loser, who uses LRMs you piece of crap".
