So i have read all over how cpu speed is more important than anything and the game doesn’t take proper advantage of multiple cores. But then i have recently seen some posts by Narc Bait with graphs that seem to imply thread count is actually pretty important maybe (i could be misunderstanding)

If the oft-parroted wisdom is true would not the i3 8350k be an ideal cpu for my new build? ( i do have likited budget so let’s not talk i9 / Titan builds) would the i3 be better for MWO than say an I7 6800k? How does this work? How do I choose the right cpu?

I do intend to overclock at least some

For GPU I’m thinking something in the gtx 1070 range

I dont need to blast the game at 100+ FPS I just want to never drop below 30
Can we do that for about $1000 +/- $300?

So the ghz does matter in a single thread but the design of the cpu does too. I would look at the list below on where to shoot for.

https://www.cpubench...ngleThread.html

the 8350 is a good cpu and its better than my higher price i7 for single threads. But saying this a 9600k is about the best bang for the buck for single thread.

For video cards the 1070 is a good one. But if it came down to a budget i would buy the better cpu and get the 1060. Videocards are an easy upgrade later.

I should have added, the thread count in my view does matter but not really.

Seeing all the best single thread cpu come with a ton of threads i don't really find it an issue. If you plan on doing some video encoding or something else then i would look at the max cpu cores then "average" everything out.

I personally am looking to buy the 9600k or 8086k soon.
