The game penalize player for shooting simultaneously many same or similar weapons aka ghost heat or heat scale. Player must wait at least 0.5 second or suffer extra heat.
The game provides players with ability to shoot individual weapons in a selected group one by one with 0.5 sec interval; this is known as chainfire mode. Primarily weapons are used in groups. Unfortunately there is no support in game to reliably shoot groups with 0.5 sec delay; you risk getting the heat penalty or waiting possibly much longer than 0.5 sec.
The game should have a group chainfire mode where you shoot selected groups one by one with 0.5 sec delay. This will make much easier use of builds like 4 large lasers or 4 PPC or 4 uac10 and take focus away from that artificial delay to other game mechanics.

I've been suggesting this for a long time. Still want it to happen. It would mostly just be a client-side/UI thing.

would be better if they just added more than 6 groups.
right now you can do what you are asking by just splitting your groups properly and using existing chain fire but you run out of space. you can always use a macro like fire support if you want to be super competitive but personally I enjoy leaving these things to the skill of the pilot. getting down as close as you can to .5 w/o hitting it
