Short Laser Barrels Strike Again - Cougar Edition

Hell, even the Cougar concept art for MWO had longer laser barrels!
Can we please get longer laser barrels for the Cougar? Perhaps this should go in the Bug Reports section!

The Cougar is a beauty and with PPCs or ACs it looks great, but the not-barrel things of the lasers (whatever you want to call them) ruin the look.

In terms of physical ability of course they "can" do it. The issue is just a policy they have where they want geometry uniformity across the board, which causes some mechs like this one to not look nearly as pretty as they should.

Also the cougar really doesn't need any more surface to shoot at, it's one of the most fragile mechs in game. Your OCD issues annoy me.
CBills too. You didn't even spend real money like myself for one. Gah, go away.
Hardcore F2P players are like cancer.

I don't see the issue tbh. It looks quite good with four barrels.

The barrels don't make any difference in that. Its survivability problems stem from a combination of low speed and low armour, plus huge ST hitboxes. The arms and the arm mounted weapons are not a factor.

Yet they are when you have about the same armor on the arms as an arctic cheetah, yet move about 62% of its speed, or ~38% slower.
That pic you posted, bloody unrealistic, where is that from? That's 24 tons of weapons and the Cougar has about 16-18 tons of space, first of all. In reality, it's like musical chairs to get the ppc to go to the top most point when using the 4E arm (you have to slot whatever weapon you want to occupy the topmost spot on the arm in the secondary slot in mechlab. On the Cougar you can at most comfortable carry 2ppcs and some small or medium lasers. Back to your opinion on the size of the arms. That's fine , but then they absolutely need to be buffed. My cougar has 27 armor from SkT, and I frequently lose arms instantly. Resizing the arms would only further confound what is a weak chassis with a high payload potential, that is pretty much a one shot pocket cannon in many instances because of slow.

Toxic much?
What's toxic about that. The portion of the playerbase come on the forums profess and scrutinize, and yet technically contribute nothing to this games continued existence. In essence the squeakiest wheels are sometimes the biggest cheapskates. That's nothing new, in real life you see similar behavior.
So, tell me, who in reality is the toxic one?

Very observant of you.
It's unrealistic since four PPCs on a Cougar require stripping most of the armour and could not be used effectively anyway. That should go without saying.
The post and pic were made in answer to the issue of the clustered energy HP arms. The image gives a rough impression how barreled lasers, even in a tight cluster, would look on the Cougar.
And no, the arms on my Cougar do not fall off more often when mounting PPCs - even though they should be a target of greater priority in that case. I think the idea that barrels would somehow break this chassis, or even just make it worse, is "bloody unrealistic".

It's just that ~72-100% of the fire power resides in this mechs arms. And it's slow. And lightly armored. If you want them to be larger-to 2/3 longer, they are undoubtedly going to be even easier to hit.
Oh Duh. Just read that you think the arms should take up as much real estate as the pic with the ppcs. Ya that would be cool looking, but again that would make hitting that arm akin to a mist lynx. Only slow.

The Cougar looks like it has guns which are just the right size. Any longer, and it looks disproportionate.

If we are talking about that 4-laser arm, that would be a signficantly increased hitbox indeed. I don't think it is overly dramatic, as I for one always shoot the ST or CT even if the majority of the Cougar's firepower resides in the arms. The STs are just too easy to single out, much easier to hit, not much better armed, and their loss is even worse for the Cougar. Likewise I never felt my arms were particularly vulnerable, PPC barrels or not. Losing STs is far more common, for a good reason.
Also, the majority of the builds won't feature this massive 4-barrel arm. And I surely prefer the PPC look on the prime.

With lasers it looks like the arms were sawn off, and grew tomours:

Only through mechlab slot wizardry can you get that right arm peep to the top.

My title and badge indicate I'm very much not a F2P user. For those who don't know what it means, I heavily invested in the Clan Invasion 'mech packs.
I admit I haven't spent money on anything lately because I'm not happy with some of the things that have been done with the game, like the escort mode implementation and the abandonment of inverse kinematics.
I still do care a lot about this game and how the content looks, having been a longtime BattleTech/MechWarrior player. I hope they do lengthen the laser barrels on the Cougar just as they did for the Mad Dog, and the PPC barrels on the Warhawk. PGI, please show us how much you still care about the MechWarrior franchise and fix the laser weapons model on the Cougar!
