So IDK what happened in the last update but ive have a significant FPS drop from 30-40 to 10- 25. So im shoping for some upgrades like...

https://m.newegg.com...888&comboType=2

Any input and or suggestions welcome.

(Keep in mind i really cant spend a lot.)
((Also, was able to get a 8gig vid card for 200 and will install on new rig))

I think a CPU upgrade is your best bet for improved performance. Are there any benchmarks for MWO (or CryEngine) for the newest CPUs? It used to be that AMD CPUs weren't that good in single thread performance compared to Intel. Not sure if the Ryzen architecture fixed that or not.

That cpu will work fine for mwo and most games now. I was rebuilding my own rig recently from a 2012 system. I had an amd fx series 788x 3.5 cpu and it held about 40fps until sorlaris city was added. The 8 gig gpu is over kill for mwo.

Yeah i didnt want to go 8 just because OMFGEXPENSIVE.

If i can save up for a month or so i can buy that kind of combo. But first i need the 1kw powersupply to power the vid card and rig. Just trying to plan ahead

Unless you're willing to go up another 100 bucks or search used ebay than this is the best deal for the the money.

64bit system
6core processer 1.8ghz (i think)
12gb ram
2gb video card.
350w power

Ill look up the exact specs when i get home and update but this is what i think its got.

You really need to upgrade your power if you are upgrading...350w is not enough for most modern rigs.... I had to upgrade mine to 850w last time.

Won't matter much. My buddy just bought a kickass new rig from Newegg (and he is very experienced in computer building) and still in MWO combat his FPS dips below 40 fps sometimes.

THIS GAME IS JUST SO BADLY CODED.

For some reason its very CPU intensive instead of hitting the Graphics Card like most games.

My buddy's new rig has a CPU of 8 cores and 16 threads. He still dips below 40 fps in MWO. That's how unoptimized this game is.

If I remember correctly, this version of CryEngine is not multithreaded, so the game performance is limited by the CPU's single threaded performance. So how many cores a CPU has doesn't really matter. The CPU architecture and clock speed matter more for this game.

He clocked it at 3.9 ghz. For a 2012 game, if a 3.9 ghz CPU is not enough, it's ****** up.

I have a Gen 8 Intel CPU and mine does as well. With my 1080 Graphics card it doesn't in other games. Im so use to the FPS drop tho that the only time I note anything about it is when its brought up here in the Forums.

Yeah got my eye on a 1kw power supply

ok so...

CPU AMD FX-6300
AMD R7 200
8GIG DDR3

SO MY SOCET IS A AM3+ so i should be able to just upgrade the cpu with out having to change the mother board

Wish I could give you proper advice but I am an Intel/Nvidia user.

either the game is a mess or the new nvidia drivers dont work well with them.

i had not played the game in some time and when i updated my drivers to the current one for the gpu and played the game the fps were horrible.

staying at around 45 fps with some major drops after few seconds under 20 fps. i uninstalled the new drivers and went for the older version, reduced the shadows and the result was slightly improved, no more fps drop under 20 but still it would drop, mico lags are happening and the fps cant stay at even 30 constant.

i am hoping for either a hot fix for mwo or more updated drivers from nvidia.

only this game is giving such a bad fps...

It's not enough. MWO needs at least 4.6Ghz+ to get decent fps. Considering that people were running i5/i7 2500K/2600K's at 4.4Ghz+ back in 2012, 3.9Ghz in 2019 is nothing. Most Intel 7th/8th/9th gens are all capable of 5.0Ghz now, usually requires delidding, but even my wife's i5 7600K can hit 5.0Ghz without delid, although I run it at 4.8Ghz due to temps/voltages being better.

Cryengine really needs brute force clock cycles to feed higher fps.

I run a FX 6300 Black edition @ 4.2Ghz (air cooled) with 16 Gig of some good fast Ram @ +/- 1000Mhz, combined with an XFX branded 8 Gig RX 570 & MWO runs smoothly under most circumstances.
MWO just isn't gonna run well like optimized games do, because it's not, for reasons..
I got the 8 Gig version of the RX 570 (which is overkill for MWO) because it wasn't really that much more than the 4 Gig version, I already had a 600w power supply & it gave plenty of headroom for other games.

Everyone being surprised that a Ryzen is not enough for MWO shouldn't be surprised at all, we have seen this when Ryzen was new.

MWO is unusually CPU intensive but can't make use of many cores/threads, so
super high clocks it is.

A Ryzen is good for literally any other game but this one.

you can tell that it ts a Ryzen 1700 something being clocked at 3.9 and has 8 c/16 threads

the second gen clock higher and the 1800 should reach 4 and boost to 4Ghz by themselves anyway
