Hi Guys,

Been playing MWO for a long time and had this problem for quite some time but lately it has been ruining some rounds for me so here it goes.

While in-game, the game tends to ''hang'', as in the game freezes up, and after a 3 up to 5 seconds, the game continues.

Setup:
i7 7700
16GB RAM
GTX1050

Laptop is running at high performance setting.

Using a stable internet connection around 100mbps.

Anyone has a fix for this?

This is rarely related to connectivity and more of what the system itself is doing/reacting.

Power Options - High Performance - good. Just make sure to double check it, esp after a major Windows update. Sometimes things get set back to default.

Disable Xbox DVR.

Can of Compressed air, clear out the heat vents/heatsinks. Laptops tend to build up heat more readily due to build.

Nvidia control panel, Power Management mode, set to Max Performance. Helps ensure Nvidia is being used and not the built in Intel on the CPU.

Two options, either disable Turbo boost (layman's TEMP overclock) or utilize a user.cfg and set the Max FPS. If going route of disabling turbo boost, try 98% to 97% if you dont see any good results using 99%.

https://www.tautvida...el-turbo-boost/

4200 MHz (1 core) Max Turbo Frequency
4100 MHz (2 or 3 cores)
4000 MHz (4 cores)
3600 MHz ( 8 cores) Base Frequency

The above is generally performed by increasing the BLCK/base frequency and not the core multiplier, which pulls more power, increasing the heat for those TARGETED cores. If a core crosses a heat threshold the entire CPU speed drops below 3600 MHz to allow core(s) to cool down. (importance of clearing heat buildup). Also after a few years one may need to disassemble and replace thermal paste.

Another item that could cause problems is either/both battery and adapter. A failing battery can pull more juice from the, reducing what is available for the system. Test by removing the battery is the simplest test that does not cost a dime.

It could also be a program running in the background. Perform a CLEAN boot and test.

Thanks for your effort put into your response. I will start testing.

Game seems poorly optimised considering much heavier games run smoother, but I dont know much about these things so Im probably missing some pieces.

PGi has been working with a heavily modified Cryengine 3 beta engine. There is a huge difference between the Training Ground and Live Game due to what is happening on the backend. This is why most players see the biggest boost from CPU speed. The few guys who helped code it are no longer with PGI as they have left for greener pastures.
