What more am I supposed to do to get 500 match score for the challenge event? I flank the enemy early and start dropping Assault mechs from behind. Sure my total damage isn't very high but that's because I only hit their rear CT and they're dead by then.

Do less team damage.

My team's nowhere near me for me to even hit them...

Classic case of doing it wrong. You are suppose to use spread weapons to maximize you damage while minimizing lethality, as well as mounting an AMS or two to boost the match score.

I would say that's a case of the game calculating match score wrong then. Spreading damage all over the place isn't as valuable as taking mechs out of play altogether. I guess I'll just stop striving for the event challenge then. I'm not going to play worse for the sake of the game.

Don't feel bad, I've had 11 Matches where I got between 480 and 498 Match scores. The 500 is alluding me... funny when I'm not trying to get 500 I get it or above *sigh*

With your average stats, I have a feeling that even if you strive for it, you will be hard pressed to get to 500 points. Pilot heavier mechs and bring bigger guns.

6 kills doesn't mean a lot.

You could last hit everyone, big deal.

If you had 6 kills with 6 KMDD/6 Solo Kills, you've had 600 match score+

Kills aren't everything, especially last-hit kills.

My average stats? How do you know what my stats are? I didn't think it was possible to view stats of other players?

Interesting, the stats on that site don't match my stat view on my account at all. I wonder which is correct?

My stats on my account:
K/D 544 / 425
KDR 1.28
W/L 323 / 282

Well, here are your stats...

https://leaderboard....The+Caterpillar

Also, one can view them in the leaderboard ingame and via the profile, although that is a bit more effort to get the history...

My suggestion: Grab a decent, tanky Medium or Heavy Mech with decent range, load up with UAV and/or Artillery. 500MS is quite doable.

They are correct, if that is where you are heading with this?

It only goes back 29 odd seasons or whatever (so, 29 months). Prior to that is unavailable.

Hmm.. well I've settled on a build recently that I've been doing well with:

BKL-BL
-3 MCPL
-6 SPL
-2 SRM4
-2 HMG
-ECM

I'm usually just experimenting with builds, so now that I've settled with this one hopefully my stats will start swinging back. Thanks for the info and advice!

Yeah that build isn't really going to help.

You are mixing 3 weapon types on a Med mech, that is a no-no.

Stick to all energy (same weapon), all missile or a energy/missile mix.
Unless you have 6MGs+, they are not worthwhile.

If you are gonna backstab people and are doing it well drop one side torso and then the other and you will get way more damage. Not the most valid tactic for securing fast kills unless everything is running isxl, but you will get way more damage and match score.

Also to echo what ash said a bunch of mpl and heatsinks makes a smooth and well performing build.

Am I missing something?

He's got two weapon types.

Lasers/MGs = hitscan, they tie in together (though the difference in range is not exactly ideal, the combination should mix well)
and SRMs = spreading projectile.

There is no way you are running that build.

The range difference on the weapons is terrible, which might be where someone's going with "3 types."

Tie the energy and MGs together into a similar range bracket and results should improve.

There's also the above.

3 Types. I would've thought that rather basic to comprehend... But then I gotta remember who's replying now and again Posted Image

SRMs = Missile (needs ammo)
MG = Ballistic (need ammo)
Laser = Energy (needs cooling)

3 types... A Black Lanner, as a Med, does not have tonnage to do 3 effectively. 2 max.

Anyway stick to what I said above, perform better.

Sorry, the forums decided to not notify me of any new posts despite me following this thread. Since there seems to be some intrigue/confusion about my build, here is the reasoning I went through for it:

I did a calculation on each weapon to determine general efficiency, excluding range, hard points, and slots.

cyc = cooldown + beamDuration (if applicable)
dps = dmg/cyc (obviously)
adjTon = tons+60/ammo/salvo*cyc (additional weight required to fire for 60sec.)
general efficiency = dps/ht/adjTon

MGs are the most efficient when heat is a concern, HMGs are less efficient in terms of dps/ton but I had the weight to spare.
ERMCLs are the most efficient energy weapon, but again I sacrificed the tonnage for MCPLs. (oh yeah, MC as in micro, not as in medium clan)
SRM2s are the most efficient missile weapon, and again I stepped up in tonnage to SRM4s.
I decided I still wanted more firepower so I replaced 6 MCPLs with 6 SPLs, this time having to sacrifice 3 tons of heat sinks and armor.

I've changed the build a little since I posted it, I switched to SRM2s because SRM4s were the least efficient of what I had mounted (too much ammo consumption). The range differences aren't a problem for me because I get right up behind them so I'm closer to their center of rotation when they start to turn around.

Match score = Total damage/2 + Missiles downed - team damage + Bunch of other stuff..

For a surefire 500 match score, do 800+ damage, a few assists, and no team damage, and you will get it.
