MAD-IIC-D is the best, using 2xCGauss + 2xCERLL.

As long as you build it properly and crit par the Gauss properly.

But yeah it's not a bad mech. Some maps in QP it can tend to suck a little.

This! How people do not still use this is beyond me xD I've been thinking about buying a Cougar just for that for months but never had it prioritized over other mechs.

The Loyalty Night-Gyr could do that too, but it has less armor, and worse hitboxes. But it has JJ, which is nice.

The real question is what role do you intend to play? If you are going to hide and poke with the gauss, the shadowcat or a fast medium mech is probably the better choice. If you want to poptart, go NTG. But trying to hide and poke with that or the MAD-IIC-D will just cost your team a lot of armor and turn you into fish food if you're not a really good shot.

Lets hope he doesn't intend to turn a Heavy or Assault mech into a hide and poke mech. Good shot or not, the issue is that he isn't up front dividing the enemies attending and sharing armor which means he places his team at a huge disadvantage right off the bat. This is why LRM assaults get a bad rap, it isn't the LRMs, it is the fact that the Assault mech refuses to play up at least in the 2nd line sharing attention and armor with the rest of his team.

Honestly I don't even like it when a light or medium does it and feel it is pretty ineffective over all but if your going to do it, best do it in a mech that doesn't have alot of armor to share.

As to the mechs, the problem with both the Marauder IIC and the Night Gyr is that neither are what I would call mobile both are pretty gimped in agility and both top out at 64 kph without tweak. That is a bit on the slow side. That just leaves the Hellbringer but it really don't have the tonnage to go dual Gauss. On the other hand you could go a single gauss supported by a solid laser build with it.

Marauder II MAD-4L. Can go dual gauss + ERPPC and ECM and stealth armor. Invisible OP sniper. Not optimal with peeking though, with it being 100 tons and all. It is IS but it is fine unless you need clan in a drop deck.

Marauder II is not a Clan 'Mech.

I would vote for Sun Spider with dual gauss.

SNS-D and you can try asymmetrical or using both arms.

Hard to justify the dps from sniping with dual gauss, let alone a single GR for most of a match.

I have seen worse builds in QP. Posted Image
