There's a lot of people in the forum that have lost sound and we see in the logs that their game is detecting a 7.1 sound configuration (and fails to start the sound).

Most of the time, it's a program (razer surround, sonic studio, etc) that emulate a surround mode (7.1) and is not compatible with a few games.

So if you have that kind of program, disable it for mwo.

For one of the guy, the solution was to uninstall sonic studio.

And/or you are running Realtek soundware, there was a Windows update, which by default also update drivers but with or without driver update, things revert settings to default.

I have a headset plugged into my system. When there is a windows up (without driver update, thank you!!) I click on my Realtek HD Audio Manager, Device Advanced Settings and change Recording device from Tie up same type of input jacks as an input device to Separate all input jacks as independent input devices.

Game/computer sound goes to speakers, VOIP/TS/etc goes to headset.
