Network:
  • Netgear n6400 router is plugged into xFi XB6 modem/router (which is set to "bridge" mode bypassing the XB6 router in favor of the N6400 router Comcast does)
  • 1Gb Comcast connection.

When i am plugged into the N6400 i get a ping of about 85ms in Solaris matches and speedtest.net around 500Gb w/ 6ms - 12ms latency.
IPSEC and FW introduce latency that is only noticeable when higher speeds are involved.

The XB6 has two network ports.
In an attempt to lower my latency in Solaris i plug into the 2nd XB6 port.
Speedtests report 940Gb connection @ 4ms - 7ms latency.

Seems to be an improvement right?

Now the problem:
If i am connected directly to the XB6 (which, in bridge mode has no functioning services that would introduce latency) it takes me minutes to login to MWO.
The "Loading" screen and the spinning wheel sit there forever.
Switching in or out of Solaris matches takes three times longer.
Sometimes i get "couldnt load some of your account information" errors
Sometimes info like the leaderboards or my own ranking card is blank or shows incorrect info.
All this only when i am using a straight connection to XB6.

Using the N6400 to XB6 is a bit slower but i never have these odd issues.

Any ideas why a straight connection to the internet through the XB6 with about twice the bandwidth availability would cause slow downs and disconnects in MWO?

also just noticed that the game timer at top center seems to pause then catch up occasionally in this XB6 only connection.
