Yeah, I know.... Assaults LRM boats are a no-no.

But...ummm.. yeah...hypothetically, if I were to create an assault LRM boat which would play better:

MCII-4 with 4 X LRM20 + 4 X ERML

or

SNV-A with 4 X LRM20 + 4 X HML

Thanks

You want to have DPS, so your support weapons are a bit off (heat), get active probe, TAG, most of the info tree (target decay, etc..) and in mobility, if you want to be good Lrm-er you should be inside of 500m from battle line. So support weapons should be more or less defensive and cool running, pulse lasers (ermed, heavies will eat a lot of heat) and sink up,really sink up.

SNV is better as it has significantly better hitboxes.

Either way ditch the lasers. Full LRM80 with 3k ammo+tag or don't.

I'd suggest 4 ATM12 o Supernova instead of LRMs, and you can still stick a light tag, cap and three medium pulses.
That way yo avoid being the lrm desease and of more use to the team.

Try AWS-8R with 3xLRM-15+Artemis. Decent mix of mobility, heat management, ammo and helpful quirks.

I run a SNV-A with 4 LRM15 and 3 ERML. Artemis, active probe and tag. Does fairly well and heat is not insane.

This is how you SNV-A for the most insane DPS in the game - and yes it has L-AMS, that even on a hot map, doesn't hurt you much. You can turn it off if you're heat spiking anyway but thats rare.

Or if you want some back up weps yet some lower overall DPS - SNV-A. You might run out of ammo though.

Here you go, the best LRM Assault build in the game. ECM to help you hide in the background while your team dies, no back up weapons against any sort of lights, ammo placed in the wrong locations to maximum the chance of a premature death by ammo/weapon explosion into your shiny XL engine.

Oh, sorry, you were asking a serious question?

Make sure to spend some skill points on getting more powerful Artillery Strikes... If you are using that in quick play, you might as well drop some Artillery on your team to make the pain go away quicker...

Lurmlander IIC Lrm 80 with backup LB-20-X

Jokes aside, you do want backup weapons if you drop in quickplay, your team won't help you in most games.
If you drop faction or group queue, you can ditch the backup weapons to maximize lrm spam.

If you are to buy an LRM mech maybe I would suggest a heavy, the nova cat B. It pretty well comes with the loadout you want just fix the armor, ammo values, make sure you have an Active probe and you are good to go. It also might be a heavy but it carries an assault payload of sky reee that will be sure to enrage your foes.

If you completely ditch support weapons, you run this risk. Unlike ASH, I doubt you have a team that'll save you when you get stuck somewhere with pests trying to peck at your legs.

Anyone running full LRMs in solo queue is asking for it.

Even I bring a friend when going full LRMs. And I'm suicidal in game. :)

This is me on the other end of the issue.

This is the short end of a 6 minute time with a medium pecking at me, where no one would answer the call for help.

You need some backup weapons. But heavy lasers are TOO HOT. ER lasers are too hot. Given you're running Clan, try small pulse or MPL and note their purpose is to fend off lights and mediums that get too close... regardless of if you have LRMs or SRMs.

You could also try swapping two launchers for SRMs, or run a mix LRM-ATM build, as the ATMs will be able to do damage at much closer ranges, as well as much higher damage per missile.

At one point I ran a Kodiak-4 with 2x LRM15 in the hands, 2x UAC5 in the right shoulder and an assortment of lasers in the claws. I called it the ShameBear because it could be horrifically effective in Tier 3 with essentially minimal effort

I ran a 4x lrm15 aws-8r for a bit and it was very fun as long as you got the open maps. Anything with terrain nullified it so its a very selfish build. Damn thing is wide as hell though so its not exactly a great front line mech. Guess that why you rarely see them. The 8q is kinda fun as a heavy ppc boat though.

Eh, the only map that can be said to nullify the 8R is Solaris City. Everything else is manageable.

LRMs are fine even on Solaris City... I've pulled regular 1k matches on it.

Just have to know how to position...

While I do not actually play LRM Assaults, I do have an ECM Cougar with LRM 40 that I am currently trying to skill... And I would certainly appreciate any pointers you might have to improve my performance on that map. :)

Lights are my worst Mech class and LRMs the weapon system I have the most problems with. ;-)

I tried to send you a PM, but for some reason the system would not let me...
