As the title suggests.

I see it's possible to type a message while waiting for a match to be found, but you can't actually send that message. This is annoying for those not using a VoIP solution who may be engaged in a text-chat in-game who cannot both chat and wait for a match at the same time...

After not having played MWO for a minute, I was shocked, it is still not possible to chat while searching for a game.
One could argue, is this a feature or a bug? While I lean more towards the latter, it should still be possible to chat while searching for a game, especially when searching for a faction game.
