in fact, make a trial mech for every division that can at least hold its own

No! We must haze the new players to weed out the scrubs that don't deserve to play our beautiful game.
This is the philosophy adopted by Piranha House of Farts and I will continue to mock them for it unless they prove otherwise.
Almost every trial mech in the game needs to be redone and given a skill tree so we aren't giving new players mech-shaped turds to play with.

also, I don't remember giving you permission to speak, get back in your kennel!
if it were up to me at this point though, I'd move everything from div 1 except the anni, king crabs, acw, iv4, slepnir....what else can win here?

Also, in solaris as is, I wouldn't consider 25 matches a good sample size, that could be 25 pilots in night stars, kodiaks and arctic wolves. 25 is just the bare minimum to show up on the board for rankings, there are plenty of pilots who play 25 matches to get rewards @ the end of season but then don't expose themselves further.
Additionally, there seem to be ways to manipulate which mech shows up on that listing, so there is no guarantee that this particular mech was used for all 25 matches.

The bigger issue is though - Skill tree. Without any skill tree it doesn't really matter what mechs people get given is there is a 20pt armour difference in a single location and huge DPS differential.

Haha I can't hear too well from up here, you'll have to yell louder from the top of that Anni.
Yeah more trial mechs for Solaris, like per division would be interesting. Although I do enjoy seeing the occasional trial nightstar

Having a few good mechs removes the drive to acquire more mechs and more options? It does not.
Correct.
Get some end of seasons rewards maybe, get a feel for a mech you like, maybe even improve the experience a little?
There is no downside IMO.

You're exaggerating the matter. Trial mechs tend to be bad (or horribly outdated) builds that are barely - if at all - viable for use. All we're calling for is that the trial mechs use reasonably current builds that give the newbies a fighting chance.
And as far as the skill tree is concerned, let's be fair - for newbie players the only thing that will make a difference is a somewhat-filled Survival tree.

Some chassis might be better than others, but they can balance it by putting crappier loadouts on the better chassis.

Not a good idea, we already have 7(14) buckets in solaris, more is not the answer

I hate the trial nightstar. It can make skilled pilots look like total potatoes. that thing can be a real monster when driven right. I even carried half a dozen or so matches with it last season and i hate UAC’s (i seriously don’t understand how you people can make UAC’s work for you).

Surely you mean new/UN-established players?
