Chris Eck, the Tool Designer for HBS's BattleTech has a new blog where he talks about how he is creating tools to help in the development of BattleTech and mostly the tools and systems going into the creation of the next DLC, Urban Warfare. A link to the blog is below...

Developer Journal: Entry #1
https://www.gamedev....per-journal-01/

If you are interested in some of the work going into BattleTech/Urban Warfare, or are just interested in the kind of work that goes into game development, I recommend giving it a read. It is very interesting.

Thank you.
Would also be interested in the tools. HBS hid tools into Battletech that can be used to create things, but with them is a complete lack of documentation leaving pure trial and error to figure out what they do, and no way to deliberately trigger those random events in order to test them easily..

But, somewhere in my HBS Battletech...
Mousers came out of (random pilot's name here)'s television while he was watching the Ninja Turtles, and those have gone about the ship consuming the Battlemechs...and you have a few methods to take care of them, one of which includes jettisoning half your mechs.

Why?
Because I wanted to make sure I knew what it was when I encountered it.
....I still haven't.

In the Journal Entry #2 Blog, there is a link to a Paradox forum thread created by Amechwarrior that appears to be a guide for building Flashpoints...
https://forum.parado...-guide.1153590/

I haven't looked through it myself (since I haven't tried to create anything), but if you haven't seen it before, maybe it is worth a look. It might have content that could help you create the trigger you need for your event.

There's that which will be handy, but specifically the original game has a random event trigger. The kind you get while traveling and X happens and you gotta make a choice. Oh you're out of supplies, what do you wanna do?
Someone got into a fight again, what do you wanna do?
There's only one cup of coffee left... no matter what you do you're screwed.
etc. That one is the one I'm talking about. :)

Btw, check out the Savannah Master thread.
Duked it out with a swarm of 12. Made it out.

Ahh ok, I know what you mean. Yeah, I don't know how that even system even triggers. I wonder if you overwritten an existing event with your event (and kept all the labels) it would work?

They trigger randomly during travel, though additional conditions can be met to prevent them from trigger at inappropriate times...but they are random.

Eck's Journal Entry #5...
https://www.gamedev....per-journal-05/

This new entry deals with more encounter logic and the squashing of a pesky, and elusive bug.
