Firstly, its a ******* swinging contest plain and simple.

PGI can only get folks to go in there by bribing them.

Now the only place I do like to play, shooting the same folks day after day cuz the population is down and there has been no resources devoted to it in some time, is FW.

Solaris has drawn everyone away from FW. No, it won't last but it is inconvenient.

So you go into Solaris and after a few matches you think you might have the right mech/loadout to be able to compete.

You've spent a lot of c-bills and time so you get your hopes up.

Then you get a match with this yahoo that you can't find anywhere.

I don't want to wait him out as I'm here to have some fun, not wait for a tie.

So you go looking for him and of course, he's in his spawn.

You get an angle on him, but you have to get close.

Boom, you are dead.(I thought of Cheekiez but it wasn't him ;o)

This is what I think of Solaris.

Its a lot of work, lots of time and expense and you don't get a happy ending.

I really like Solaris and I don't believe I've been bribed. Spawn campers happen. Ban steiner if it bugs you that much, or drop a close range high dps brawler yourself and walk in. You're not going to win every match, and you're not going to do well in every division.

Sounds like you had a bad experience. There are a couple pilots that will force a tie if you are beating them. Can't say who otherwise I get [REDACTED] but they aren't the majority. While there are pilots who play fw exclusively there are the same for Solaris. You can't just show up in something that does good in faction and beat everyone. It's not gonna work. If you REALLY want to find a successful build look at the leaderboards, those will give you an idea and you can adjust from there. Then it's up to you and your piloting/ gunnery skillz.

2v2s are extremely fun and lately easy to get a match with. If not just hop in discord and ask around, it's pretty easy.

I just had a rather prominent player force a tie after i shot off his primary weapons (ATM’s). I’ve had several potato players pull it off, or attempt to, this sesason but it was hardly the behavior i’d expect from player who normally places much higher than me.

^ Play Div 7. Shut down in front of streak javelins. They don't usually have BAP. If you want to be a for real **** rock stealth armor and make them squirm for 5 minutes then kill them.

I don't hate it but it's boring as hell.

I hate waiting. Change the counter to 30 seconds from 2min. Loose the intro.
Hell offer a quick rematch option.

The mechs in the tiers are laughably unbalanced against each other.

No one plays except those that only play it. (Literally the same 4~6 people in morning NA times)
So those of us trying it out for the first time due to the carrot on the stick events are going up again 2000 ELOs and 100+ wins.

Yes I need to remake/buy mechs specifically for it... Don't really want to, I'd rather earn C-Bills in quick play than waste time and C-Bills rebuilding and reskilling.

IIRC, a tie results in sale SSR change as a loss.
Thus, by deliberately forcing a tie you're not preserving any of your SSR and just act like a **** to your opponent.

Maybe if there were more people playing it, it might be more fun. But for me I'm either going up against people I feel bad about killing because they are obviously beginners, or I end up against guys who play it all the time and are almost impossible to kill. So ya, the balance is a bit off, but only due to the small number of people playing it. I'm aware of that and go in expecting it, so meh. It is what it is.

Most of those guys are genuinely nice guys and will share mechs, builds, tactics, discord links, twitch streams and anything else you need to help you get better. We want people to come challenge us. You just have to ask.

You forgot the best: You set yourself on a region (for me EU) and you play with a person from another dimension (Oce). The lag difference plus a possible shity rig and there you go. NOT EVEN ONE shot lands on enemy. PGI should lock regions cause chasing a light might be hard but chasing a teleporting one is impossible.
