I know an assault mech was released. Still the trend towards heavier and heavier mechs proves that bigger is better (simply because the majority of pvpers gravitate towards what is easiest to use and most effective). Today, however, I was pretty flabbergasted having usually 6+ assaults in the team but the climax was this:

Maybe it is time to throw light and medium mechs a bone...

This happens right after a release of a Mech (any class). The Marauder-ll was just released. Expect about another week of this.

As a primarily light mech pilot, I love seeing this stuff.

Makes the everybody forget how to fight light mechs and my games get a lot more fun.

I think they gravitate towards bigger mechs because there is always something more seksi about the bigger mechs.

Exactly this. When I see then threads about OP lights...I just laugh. MWO would be the first pvp game where the majority of players wouldn't gravitate towards the most powerful stuff

I gave up on the MAD II and went back to my usual Grasshopper and gauss Vapor Eagle. I found that the team with the least Marauder IIs usually won, and that coring those lemons is the most ridiculously, unfairly easy task - just shoot the top gun. The 'Mech is hot garbage.

I bought a basic set of MAD II but I have not deployed them because I cannot find an acceptable configuration, and the large torso cannon is a target magnet. Another issue is the 48kph speed, which like many IS assaults, are often left behind by a team, isolated and destroyed by marauding lights, unable to successfully race around the NASCAR circuit. I would have to change the engine, don't put a laser on the torso, and for all its worth, the firepower isn't that much greater than the original MAD or the MADIIC that could actually move around quickly to justify the 100 ton bulk.

While I figure out the MADII, I'm just using my Scorch, or one of my original MADs or a Warhammer --- not the IIC, I got that too, hasn't figured out how to use that either.

There was a big sale of assults recently. I for example am still skilling up the new mechs I got, so I play a lot of assults these days. Usually I play mediums and heavies.

I also had games without a single assault in the team. It says nothing about a class - a specific mech and build can be OP, the entire class is not.

and you can not lie? Though -- the Atlas does still have the best swagger in the game if we're honest.

Problem with the Lights is that every time PGI releases one that's "Okay" maybe even "Not too shabby" a certain percentage of the player base loses is s$#t proclaiming them OP with exclamations of "I SEE FOUR OF THESE EVERY MATCH THEY MUST BE NEEERRRFFEED!"

and then go on to play their Annihilators, and Marauders, and what not in batches of 6-8+ all while muttering in comms that they need more agility buffs as they shoot their 100+ alphas.

Though with a player base this low PGI is imo probably capitulating out of self preservation more than anything. Why try to revive a tiny portion of the player base that would play lights when they can just keep them useless and get money from the 90% playing heavies and Assaults?

The MAD II isn't particularly capable of huge alphas, and it's not like a maxed engine will do you many favours at 100 tons in terms of agility, although yes you do get precious space for heat sinks. The 4HP is not bad I guess, but really any variant with the centre gun mounted is just criminally easy to take out. You simply cannot twist to shield it, and if you aim at the centre point of rotation of the 'Mech, it can't even move the gun out of the way.

Oh please, MAD IIs are terrible. Run an assassin with SRMs and farm them all day long. Moar assaults just means moar damage for me.

sounds like the standard marauders. you know what helps? sustained firepower, maybe JJ's and move sideways alot.
i sadly cant really try myself but as its silhouette is kinda the same. should be fine playing it like a more beefed heavy tho or teamed up with a different mech.
