With the new way of FP, how can one increase his Merc standing? The discription only say you get extra XP and from how I understand it you will get no standing when choosing MERC at all?

Also for how long with I be a Loyalist if I choose one faction and is there still a penalty when switching sides?

It's a bug, you should still get RP if you pick merc

Is it also a bug that after choosing MERC I can't switch to loyalty ?
From what I understand its under "Faction details" but there isn't a button where I can choose.

Right now you can only pick once at the beginning of a FP event. You'll be able to choose again when the next one starts.

I've been trying to dig up information, but perhaps someone will remember clearly enough.

Wasn't there a reputation system in the early phases of Community Warfare where you would earn rep for your faction but would lose it against the factions you fought. The amount of loss varied a bit according to who that opponent was?

The loss was 5 per kill against that faction (player with that faction tagged)
