I have very mixed feelings about the new faction play. First of all I am highly dissapointed that I can't show my Liao Loyalty anymore... speaking of which,

Loyalty now means absolutely zilch, nada, niente... nothing!
I mean it means even less than before... However, I am not here to talk about that.

Broken Mechanics as I see them right now:

Scouting: Was meant to "support" the main force during "Siege" matches.
What happens to the Intel?
There is no more Tug of War
There are no more boni applied to your "Siege" Team in real time ...

Scouting is utterly useless. Ok, The "story-mode", seems legit, but does nothing. why bother?, Why not have 4 vs 4 Skirmish????

Units: When Player A chooses side A and Player B chooses Side B, they can still be in the same Unit and fight each other.
What does Unit affiliation mean anymore then? Units were supposed to work together to get Tags on Planets.
The current Faction Play, does not (to my knowledge) award Tags, No Tags= No Planetary MC = dead Mechanic

TLDR:
Scouting Intel provides no bonus! Units do not gain Tags and Members can fight for different Factions at the same time.

Scouting should have been kept a separate mode for those that enjoy it, while not forcing on those that didn't. It is now a short phase and if you are at work or otherwise, you miss out and for the people that liked that isn't cool.

We've been bugging PGI for years to account for people's loyalty to a faction, and considering that there are a lot of people who never touch CW but still wanted that association even while playing quick play shows either a complete disregard or lack of understanding of their player base. At this point I am inclined to believe it is actually both.

There's no reason Ghost Bear dudes couldn't keep their tag but choose to queue up for a side (providing if it was IS on IS that they choose the appropriate mechs). I am frustrated that they spent money to develop what they gave us, and it was what no one wanted or approaching anything that was going to bring more people into the mode.

Was it not normal in lore for a big merc company to take contracts from opposing sides of a conflict?

True loyalists have never existed in game, though it seems it will be added next patch. Once you declare it, it locks your account to it.

when steiner gets scouting, drop decks should be limited to 100 tons.

Even if you kept scouting as a separate mode it would have no effect.
It was introduced to support the big team during Siege, thus justifying the win condition: Escaping with at least one Intel collected.
Now, it does nothing. No matter how much Intel you collect, there will be no Radar Sweeps, no Jammer, no ID, no Longtom during Siege!

It's a dead mechanic...
Heck, even Escort has more meaning than scouting now.
