Lurm Urbie?

As I am currently experimenting a bit with Urbanmechs, I started wondering... Has anybody ever tried playing a Lurm Urbie? Kinda tempted to take an R68, slap an LRM20 and some ERSL on it and see how it plays...

Lel.

If you really insist on using an LRM light then you'll probably want to use a Clan gunboat light because the Urbie's durability advantage won't really come into play if you're just lobbing Lurms from safety all day. In that situation you'll want to mount more tubes.

i did for an event awhile back. didn't have any dedicate lrm builds, so i grabbed an urbie. previously it had an mrm40. think i put a couple lrm10s and bap on it. of course after i did my lrm damage, i went back to the mrm40. the lerm build neither has the tubes nor the ammo capacity to be a useful missile turret.

Not as fun as murm can, but a good punch in a humble package.

I do advice murms, though. I only use lurms since i have a Javelin for murms.

UPD: it plays great, by the way. At least it did last winter, didn;t play since. CW patch was a.... it was what it was...

Why waste a light slot in the drop on an LRM boat when you can totally waste an assault slot? Dude. LRM Atlas. Way better.

The issue is the AMS all around. Realistically, you could only put a few LRM tubes in there lest you have little ammo.

UM-R68

This kinda works, assuming you could land enough missiles. It's not great, but it's the closest I could get with an effective LRM build.

SL lasers are superior for any case you might need them.
As for missiles, LRMs are wasted on urb. SSRMs, SRMs, MRMs, even RLs with bigger lasers work fine.

You get it. That is exactly why LRM on an urbie sucks.

mediums are the best class for lerms in my opinion. fast enough to maintain good positioning and can carry enough ammo for it to matter. they also seem to work well on highlanders for some reason. more as a mixed build, turns out an ac20 is a good backup.

If you're going to run MRM30 on the R68, do 20+10 instead of the single 30. Generates slightly more heat and makes the arm hitbox larger, but the spread is tighter and- more importantly- the health per missile is higher for the smaller launchers, so more of each salvo will land for the same investment in tonnage and crits.

If you're going to run LRMs on the R68, don't.
