To all who do not want to mess with the Epic launcher like me I have the good news that the devs react fast, informative and friendly if your ask for a refund.
It took only 1 day until the money was refunded.
I did not expect or ask to keep the MCs and other goodies but they are still in my account.

Thank you very much PGI.
I still enjoy MWO and keep buying some mech packs if they are interessting for me.
Keep the game running and good luck with MW5.

If MW5 turns out to be the burner we all hope I may think over Epic once again.

Have fun

Unfortunately, screwing us over had been going on for a very long time.

They did right by offering timely refunds no questions asked and letting people keep their pre-order bonuses (probably because its more work than its worth for them to remove it all)
but they really should have emailed everyone who pre-ordered and not expect them to check the website for this information

Can anyone tell me as to why I would want to refund my pre-order? I mean I still get the game as well as access to the closed beta, so what is all the refunding about?

Go to read the latest announcement, it is there,
https://mwomercs.com...re-exclusivity/

MW5 is now delayed to December, and more important it is no longer issued on Steam as advertised during pre-order but Epic Games EXCLUSIVELY. Many people are less than comfortable with the change of publisher (and also moral reasons including feeling of betrayals)

And in how far does it matter on which platform the game is being published? I mean l, I pre-ordered because I wanted to have this game which is still the case.

Because Epic is an absolute dumpster fire.

Because PGI straight up lied.

Because PGI employed a bait and switch scam to take your money.

This has no bearing on MW5; it's not going to make the game magically worse in any regard, if anything the extra funding and Dev time means the game should be better than it would be if they they rushed to publish it on Steam.

You seem surprised... you shouldn't be surprised.

This is the point of shafting many are upset over, and they have every right to be. Not everyone uses Steam/Epic/Gog, when you pre-order for one publisher you shouldn't suddenly be expected to use another. Fortunately it's a timed exclusive, and PGI are honouring refund requests so it's not an end-of-the-world situation. It's still a pretty good shafting to those who funded to play in 2019 though.

Let the lesson be learned... don't pre-order.

Some people are really against EPIC for a variety of reasons which range from the inconvenience of dealing with another separate launcher with a whole different friends list, all the way to EPIC is stealing your data and selling it to the Chinese.

I would have preferred a multi-platform launch, with STEAM, GOG and the PGI portal as the available options but I can understand why PGI would have chosen EPIC (the whole 12% vs 30% platform tax) and I just wish they'd informed everyone as the deal was being put together.

The delay to December 2019 isn't a biggy but I'll be waiting until 2020.

I dont want to buy from epic because instead of making their launcher something people would want to use, they just throw cash at game devs to force us to use it to play these games

Its yet another account to remember a username/password, another company that can potentially experience a security breach with my information, another program that holds my game collection hostage (is this on steam? epic? gog? its own launcher?) - adds to disorganization of a game library

Its like buying a car and while waiting for it to arrive, they tell you that you can only park in a garage at the end of the street instead of your driveway for a year.
Kind of makes you not want to get it and just buy something else instead

A closer analogy would be:

You order a new car from your local dealership, then a week before it arrives they tell you they'll no longer be getting it in. If you still want it you'll have to get it from the dealership across town or wait another 6 months. They won't even be doing parts and services during the interim, you'll have to get those from across town as well.

Not to mention that the new dealer across town is understaffed, has a poor customer service rating through the BBB, and normal amenities like a lounge, coffee, tv, etc... that a person normally would have to pass the time while their car is being serviced is missing. Just a folding chair in a poor lit and dirty room.

Sure you have the car you wanted, but the dealer makes your experience an absolutely intolerable. If you have questions it's hard to get answers and they have also been known to misplace customer's cars and proceed to deny you even dropped it off.

I don't really understand either. Best I can tell, some people think the launcher (or portal or whatever you want to call it) is more important than the game itself. Seems completely insane to me, but whatever.

I own over 250 titles in steam and 1 in epic games... and it was for Walking dead just to get the final season. I bought it kicking and screaming too! I didn't like or want to do it but I need that final season.

MW5? There is NO reason for me to feel compelled to buy this. We have all been consecutively let down by Mw4 and MWO - MW5 won't be any different - I might of considered this on a steam sale "maybe" but Epic games? pffft.. not on your life. I won't support them or put up with the BS of running multiple launchers / friends lists / online wallets etc.

I hate to say it but even on Steam MW5 wouldn't have done well. On epic - its going to do MUCH worse.

Some people pre-ordered it under the impression it would be on steam or gog as promised...steam has a good number of achievements and community integrations so it wont be the same experience. With the game having online co-op, I was looking forward to using the overlay and community groups to put together a team, but thats a feature I can't do anymore thanks to epic.
Lets say you have a PC and a Xbox - you preorder a game from microsoft for the PC, but then they announce it will be xbox exclusive a few weeks before release. Sure its the same game, but the platform can change your experience and therefore your inclination to buy it.

The launcher might be more important than the game if you buy it then can never access it again thanks to misspelling your e-mail when registering (no verification), having your account hacked, contest charges on a different game, or any other number of frustrating and ****** things they have done. Oh and the launcher itself is terrible and can spy on you for China. Epic really is that bad and countless people lose their games or accounts permanently for poor reasons
The game isn't that important to pay 50$ for all the frustration and potential loss and fraud.

If Epic closes up shop in 3-5 years, do you think you will still be able to play Mechwarrior 5 on the epic launcher? I don't know the answer to that

Isn't Epic Games the developer of the Unreal Engine everyone wants MW:O to be ported over? So what about that hypocrisy?
