Suggestion: Don't Display Kill Counter

Yes, we can just hit tab to see the scoreboard, but that isn't omnipresent & few people think to check on it through the game.
You could potentially add a delay of some kind so that people don't just 'flick' tab for a fraction of a second to get the equivalent of the obvious kill count.
Several years too late... oh well. Smarter people than me shape the world.

If I remember correctly from the old videos that I've watched, MWO didn't have the kill counter at first. It was added in later.

In general I find that to be a good idea but where I see a problem is when there is only one mech left. When the enemy is still uncertain and goes slowly over the map to find enemys, espacily on bigger maps, games will be just longer then they should be.
If you know its only one left you can spread out to find him faster.

Your personal kill counter is still there so you know how good you where. The overall kill counter should be taken off.

IIRC skirmish always had the kill counter, maybe really early beta didn't have it but I'm pretty sure I recall it being there 7 years ago. Other modes like conquest didn't used to have it though, and I don't think it was all that long ago that it got added in.

Seems silly to not have it.

It was like this before. Back then I would just watch the scoreboard and call out the kill count. If I didn't others would...

I'm not clear on your reasoning
From my POV its a handy tool.
Many times my team don't realize they are winning, I am not joking. Especially if they are panicing a bit after some biffo.
I have to tell them in chat or Voip "Keep winning bois" and then they start playing good and better again.
The community requested the kill counter and I don't see a good reason too remove it.
After all both teams can see the counter, thus both teams can take advantage of it.

Removing the Kill Counter would buy you a couple of seconds depending on the game mode as the other team tallies their individual kill counts but that's it. This would only make that one hold out more annoying and the end result would be the same.

Having a visible counter is good, as it encourages cowards to press the advantage.

If they got rid of kdr instead, you'd see a lot more people ptfo'ing and sacrificing themselves for the greater good of the team. A lot of people don't want to share armor or lead pushes for this reason. But at this point in MWO's life, circling the drain, I guess its useless now anyways. I'm usually cool with those guys playing a guerrilla warfare type of thing as long as they are running around engaging the enemy by the time we are all dead. I'll usually tell them to stay alive until the match ends. I can always drop in another mech. Fresh and in the back shut down, I tell the enemy team where they are. In those cases, the counter helps. Also helps signal to a slightly winning or slightly losing team that hey, we should push and finish this/turn this around.

On the other hand the kill counter does make some sense, it isn't really revealing hidden information as you could still count the kills manually. So it's a shorthand to information your team already has.
I'm more annoyed that they added friendly targeting/doritos on stealth mechs, it was super fun to run over a stealth light and pretend to be on the opposite team.

How many times must it be said that it is not about protecting one's KDR? It's about making the enemy earn that last kill. <maniacal >
