I've been playing MWO since closed beta. In spite of all of the ups and downs, I still really enjoy the game and continue to play as time allows. Last night I grouped up with four others and we queued for a Quick Play match. After over 10 mins. of waiting, we cancelled and threw in the towel for the night.

Of course, there have always been long waits to get into a Faction Play match, but this is the first time I've ever been part of a group that couldn't get a Quick Play match. I'm curious to know if others are running into similar occurrences?

As a side note, I'm hoping this question doesn't kick of another "let's bash PGI" thread (although I fully expect it will). There is way more than enough of that all over the other topics in the queue. I'm just genuinely trying to get a read on what others are seeing when trying to get matches, in a game I'm hoping to be able to play for a while longer.

Thanks all,

Chilly

Faction play wait times for groups are very reasonable right now. Group QP is gone

Yeah FP is the new group QP. You might have to wait a little bit but it will at least show you how many are waiting and its not to bad during NA primetime. It does often times die for a bit around 06:00utc. Other issues being bigger groups can jump you so you need to pay attention to the counts because sometimes you will need to switch sides. I wish you could queue up for a give me a match side and just have it put you where needed.

Every opus has an ending.

But as others have said, FP is where the party's at.

NA prime time for GQ used to start around 6PM eastern. It's been getting later and later since the maintenance mode announcement. Now it starts at around 9-9:30PM Eastern. After that you can still get GQ drops with "reasonable" wait times (5 minutes or so).

I want a time machine so I can take this thread back to 2016 and say that literally QP group population is gone because they're all playing FW.

CW Season 2.

Biggest problem for me, to be honest. I started playing more lately, and I have two friends who wanted to play something F2P online as a team, but it's either 10-20 m wait time for FP that isn't exactly newbs-friendly, or no access to QP at all. I miss the times when you could just make a group with your 1 or 2 friends, and enjoy casual QP

Excess size group making is what is totally murdering casual fun in Faction Play, in a way no MMO could hope to manage to survive...

The day PGI allows group making to go ruin casual fun in QP too, is the day MWO commits suicide.

You want to go farm some solo players into uninstalling MWO with a 10+ player group ? Go do it in Faction Play like everyone else does, because QP is protected against you losers.

FP is the unit centric, end game, team mode. Of course strong teams rule the roost there.

BTW, I thought you were an expert? You sure do often advise people to fight 900 meters from where you plan to be.

The 10+ ppl megagroups have no place in QP, yes. But 2 or 3 ppl groups, thrown together with pugs won't do much difference, except letting people to play with friends casually. Not to mention that you can additionally balance the matchmaker by making it drop small group + pugs team against other small group + pug team, if it's possible. But even without this, 2 or 3 people teams won't introduce enough difference to make them farm solo players like 10+ premades in FP do.

Haven't touched FP in well over a year, pretty much just solo QP for a few matches once or twice a week, but I've noticed the waits to find a match have gone up dramatically over the past couple months.

As a founder I'm sad to see this game dying, but its been a fair few years, its inevitable.

You can even drop as a solo in FW depending on which side you pick and get games reasonably fast. Obviously, if you have even a small group, you can get FW games quickly. GQ is dead. To fix GQ, PGI need to allow solos to pick both GQ and SQ. But FW is just better.

Unfortunately past experience has shown that even a single group of 3 players can repeatedly decide the outcome of a match : That's how powerful the group mechanic is in MWO, probably due to how basic the Tier system is.

It may also have something to do with MWO being down last night, at least for some of us. I couldn't get server connection from about 2pm(Pacific time) until the last time I tried at 10pm.

Faction play is actually pretty quick nowadays. I know it's pretty backwards from how things have normally been but FP is a lot of fun and a big change of pace from quickplay, group queue or otherwise.

y'all talking about the death of the game and I rejoined for the first time since Beta.... was gonna look for these deals theyre telegraphing on the front page for next week - but everyone in the forums is talking about the game like its going extinct. Doesn't encourage me to buy into the game, tbh.
