Are only community preorder folks eligible for the demo? That was meant for beta access. However now that iits a demo with players having little to no input, can anyone who preorders from epic get the demo?

Pgi did day they hope people release video of the demo and get the game out there.

I think those who pre-ordered MW5 through the EGS also get access to the demo. I might be wrong though.

Try Epic's web site for info. Pgi is always lacking in communication.

Personally, I am totally dissatisfied by the fact it's not a "beta" but a "demo".

That is NOT what I payed money for. It is NOT what was promised to me.

It is most certainly NOT good for the game to release it un-beta tested.

It smells of disaster.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. The thing is, PGI have been tweaking things themselves and taking our input might've been better but I think that they were worried about releasing the beta and having more than a month to go before the actual release and given the size of the staff working on the game, it'd have been very hard to do the final bits to get the game ready while also weighing suggestions and implementing the changes that the community wants.

The game is moddable and a month or so down the line, we can change stuff ourselves. I'm disappointed that I don't get to play it early for a month but at the same time, I can skip the demo entirely and download the main game..... as weird and stupid as that may sound Posted Image

Beta, in marketing speak, is a Demo that developers release to attract people to pre-order....and it works.

A Betatester is a person that is under contract, signs an NDA and works 8h a day to test a game at an office or home office and best thing, he gets paid. You are a user that pays to get an early glimps of whats to come. Sometimes you may even can tell the devs what you think but there isn't any guarantee they will listen. Most likely there will only be very little changes, the stuff they can actualy put in before the release.

Also the game has been most likely been beta tested internaly. At least that is the normal procedure to hire professional testers or have some in your staff allready.
That dosn't mean that they can find all the bugs or even worse that they have the time to fix them.

Yeah, funny how Russ originally promised access to Beta as part of his pre-order MW5 sales pitch, but can't deliver, and is now calling it just a Demo. More Bait and Switch.

I would NOT count on that.

I wouldn't count on that either.

Its just a change of name, nothing on what you get has been changed.

The contend of the Beta was announced long before the change of the name and its still the same. As long as you don't have prove otherwise what is said counts. Calling people lier without prove is just a lie in itself.

If it's the same, then why the need for a name change?

As far as lying, Russ's lengthy record here with MWO speaks for itself.

Caveat emptor!

Russ and PGI have already demonstrated the total lack of credibility from what they have said and actually done, many of us are done, opted for a refund. You keep the pre-order, that is your choice, and this is what you get, fair enough.

Beta would be the game not finalized, this demo, as stated in the recent AMA, is just instant action. I would prefer any Beta than a small perfected demo. There are many flags raised but maybe i am just a negative nancy. We will see i guess.

It was allways just instand action. We where never supposed to get our hands on the full game.

Well, it'll honestly probably in a few ways be a better game for not having this or the battletech community's feedback, but it'll in its own way be worse because of the echo chamber.

Contrary to other opinions, I've participated in multiple early access betas (MWO being the most recent) where developers took and accepted critique and suggestion and we were also principle in finding ways to bork the game and uncover bugs not found during internal testing...

IMHO changing "beta" to "demo" devalued us as pre-purchase patrons and effectively dismissed our opinions and critique.

All I gotta say is PGI is quite lucky to have a player-base that is as invested in the Battletech IP and Mechwarrior to bite down on the leather and ride out their constant and repeated acts of player-contempt. Posted Image

Actually for this to be a truer representation of Stockholm Syndrome the player base would be beholden to PGI... The reality is us BT/MW zealots have a such deep love of the IP, we're willing to begrudgingly tolerate PGI. Posted Image
