When was the last time you opend steam? Else you would have seen that new...thing they call UI. Terrible design but its a change. Funny enough it now looks more like Epic.
That was coming before Epic got started. Tells you something it took them that long. Steam and Valve are stuck in mud.

Also haven't you heard that EA and Steam are working together now? Previously Origin exclusive titels are comming to steam and they evern want to put together their "community" aka a f***ing big data exchange will happen. You call that nothing happens? Dude the biggest online store merging with one of the biggest companies is nothing happening to you?
Well, this is news to me, but I'd still call it minimum effort. Neither of them are doing anything to improve their services, they are just combining them in a greedy attempt. Oh, and Origin gave out a free month of Origin Access to a bunch of people (everyone even?). Still lazy as f*ck.

Next thing, steam had just an publicly open testing periode for some new tools, mostly of the "How can we sell you more stuff" disguised as "Now its easier to find what you want to buy" but it where 4-5 different tools to test before implementation. When was the last time steam opened up its toolbox to see how they can improve their shop?
It took them over a year to even start doing something. And it's not like Steam wasn't on a steady decline already. They had to do something eventually, but this is minimum effort. I'd still call it nothing.

GOG is working on GOG Galaxy 2.0 with a particular marketing around "combining all launcher". A campaign that started after the launch of EGS and people complaining that they want a unified store.
Yes Epic mixed up the market for better or worse.
GoG Galaxy 2.0 was in beta WAAAAAY before EGS was a thing. I know, because they offered it to me.
Epic sure mixed the market, but there has still not been much of a response.
Also... this is going really off-topic here, so I'm not going to continue arguing about this anymore.
