People nascar because it works. Nascar works because:

1. mechs have thin rear armor
2. mechs cant shoot behind them
3. if mechs turn around, they walk backwards really slowly, a fraction of full engine power
4. if mechs turn around, they cannot see where they are going

So basically they are screwed either way. Either they turn around and get overrun due to lack of mobility, or dont turn around and get one-shotted in the back.

I propose an optional view mode that gives you a picture-in-picture rearview mirror, or backup camera. You could turn it on just like you turn on heat vision or night vision. It would create a small view window on top of your main window that shows whats happening behind you. That way you could walk backwards without walking into walls and such. It would also help against sneaky backstabbers. You could make it mostly transparent and overlay it in a corner of your screen or something. Or make it cover up the minimap like how you do with the 3rd person drone.

While this seems minor, it would allow for alternate playstyles that might radically change the meta. Most people seem like they are getting sick of nascar. And it doesnt make mechs any more powerful or change their stats, it simply provides more information to the player.

Lore wise I would assume they have the tech required to create a backup camera. We have that today in the real world and we dont even have giant robots yet.

I am of the opinion that NASCAR would happen anyways. Regardless of whether or not 'mechs get a rear view camera. However, having a rear view camera is certainly not a bad thing, though there are some performance concerns to be had.

for the most Modern Grafic Engines a second seperate rendering cost to many Performance, a Rear view with Toggle as single View is a good Solution ..otherside , Nascar is not a tactic , its a stupid Lemmingtrain

It is very much a tactic. It's considered to be a flanking maneuver, and it's not really a lemming train. Somtimes it genuinely works to an advantage. But it also puts the slow mechs in danger. These slow mechs would have a better time attempting to hold ground, while the faster mechs flank.
