Last couple of times I tried to play MW4 the mouse aim was wonky as heck. Anybody know what I'm talking about and what to do about that? I really want to get back into it, but the screwy mouse aim is making it difficult. Is it just meant to be played with joystick?

The vertical and horizontal axis move at different speeds. It throws me out if I've been on hiatus. I think they were unique to the mechs. Will have to check.

The goofy mouse problem is why I still have a joystick, in case I ever want to play mw3 or mw4.

I always found that weird as well. It just feels oddly clunky but not in a way that translates to "oh it's because I'm piloting this giant 10 meter tall walking tank"

Never had an issue; never lost to anyone using a joystick.

Yeah you did, you just didn't realise.

No, I did not.

Joysticks are an inferior way to play even when the games are viewed through nostalgia glasses.

Instant pinpoint front loaded weapons heavily favored the precision offered by a mouse.

Did you set the mouse of control turning, or did you set it to torso twist? If it's set to the latter that would explain your issue.

Huh, yeah I tried to make it control like mwo. I guess I'll try it the other way and see how it goes.

Okay no that didn't help at all. It's just screwy. Firstly the X and Y axis have very different sensitivity no matter if it's turn or yaw. Secondly it just doesn't move smoothly or linearly. You move the mouse a little bit, nothing happens or it moves a tiny bit before suddenly swinging wildly. Different DPI settings don't help, different sensitivity doesn't help.

No wonder I never like the controls in MW4. Had no idea that was the reason why.

For turning I sometimes use the keyboard because it seems to be faster (or at least, more consistent) than mouse turning. The mouse is more for making micro-adjustments to aim after you use the keys to get most of your mech in the position you want it.

Mechwarrior 4's mouse aiming was awful, you pretty much had to use a joystick to be competitive (which actually made it fun), completely the reverse in Mechwarrior 3 and MWO/MW5

Greetings all,

Reference the mouse for Taffer.
- Are you using a wireless or corded mouse?
- Has the optical lens been cleaned?
- is the mouse pad correct for that optical device type?

Mouse movement pausing could be any of these issues, loss or reduction of wireless signal is a big one.
- Check all these and if wireless, plug into a different usb port.
(USB 3.0 port or higher is better)
