What is you first choice 'Mech - Inner Sphere or Clan?

For some reason I pilot IS 'Mechs more and more, even if I have Clan 'Mechs in my hangar. I do not care about stats, I play mostly for fun. I am not saying that I never drop in a Clan 'Mech - I do, and quite often, but still not as often as I take an IS 'Mech.

What about you?

IS mechs are more fun to pilot but there's no denying the superiority of Clan firepower.

When there's event requiring kills/damage (And, of course, when I just want to blow something up!) I tend to switch to clan but I'm predominately an IS pilot.

IS because:
1. Most are fun to pilot.
2. Harder than clankers to use.
3. Better at everything over clankers at range.
4. They look cooler than clankers. I mean clankers had to copy is' best mech and add arm lasers to it.
5. IS mechs are not ez mode with xls.
6. Volley fire over pew-pew-pew.
7. IS laser doesn't have a duration longer than a lightsaber with a dead hand holding the activation switch in the on position.
8. IS Heroes have mechs with names like Grid Iron and Huggin.

plenty of really good and fun, and totally garbage mechs on both sides, no need to choose

IS has more variety though

that being said, a lot of good IS assaults are slow, which means they suck at quicknascarplay, but are excellent in FP

IS mechs are sturdier, more heat efficient, and look cooler. I also like the feel of the weapons in the IS tech base more than clans; their autocannons fire a single shell instead of a volley, the lasers cycle faster, and MRMs offer a level of role flexibility not afforded to the clans. With my aggressive lead-from-the-front play style, clan mechs tend to wither away beneath me either from enemy fire or overheating; IS fits how I play and have always just been more fun.

With the balance we have now I switch between both of them.
If I had to pick Clan assaults, IS heavy, medium-lights mixed.

Short answer? Clan.

I'm a damage dealing guy, and despite the many nerfs administered to Clan weapons over the years, the Clans really do have the advantage there (ATMs OP when no one bothers to bring AMS).

That said, my preference varies by class. I really don't care for most Clan lights unless I want to boat a ton of weapons (PIR). Otherwise I like the better survivability of the WLF, Urbie, etc.

Mediums I'm mostly a Clan guy with the exception of the PHX-2

Heavies pretty much all Clan.

Assaults....I'm not much of an Assault player, but the speed advantage of the Clans makes me lean toward mechs like the MAD-IIC and other speedier big mechs.

I like both IS brawlies and clan tradies the same.

I prefer clan probably 80% of the time cause those mechs fit the criteria for my preferred playstyle (I prefer to long range trade with lasers/ERPPC/AC2s, mid range trade with Gauss vomit/Dakka/Laser vom, I hate NSR brawling, though I can do it fine, it's NSR for a reason). Assaults are a wash for both sides, they're viable chassis for both. I find in general that IS heavies and mediums very lacking compared to clan heavies outside of brawling (explained previous). Lights I prefer IS over clan.

Clans, because they were my first impression on the franchise due to MW:2 nostalgia. If I were introduced to the IS through another game before the clans I'm sure it would have been IS, but I still would have naturally gravitated towards the design of clan mechs sooner or later.

Alot of IS mechs have grown on me over the years when I explored Battletech outside of the Mechwarrior games. I still have my preferences for IS mechs in terms of functionality and appearances, but deep down inside I'm a filthy clanner.

Both sides have crappy mechs as well as awesome ones. So, no preference for me.

If we're talking about the weapons, then I prefer the Clan energy simply 'cause I can stuff more C-DHS whereas the IS can do the standard 3 LL/LPL + MLs and not a whole lot of use for IS ERPPC. Dakka is the same although the IS suffers from weight, they have less spread. Missiles? Definitely IS SRMs. Plus the IS has MRMs Posted Image

Not just IS, but IS fast brawlers, especially if they can work with a STD engine. I'm a bad, this proclivity doesn't help, but damn that roughly 1 in about 7 matches (by my estimate) where I can ill advisedly wade in, get blown to bits and still put up a big damage number (and take even more) just makes all the awful performances worth while. I came to this game for the nostalgia and these sorts of mechs feed that memory/need. That being said I also love the Orion IIc, Linebacker, Veagle and a few other tough/manuverable Clan mechs for much the same reasons and almost as much.

IS

They are more interesting to build with and feel better to actually play.

I prefer clans, I find IS builds alittle awkward and I am never 100% satisfied with any builds.

with clans however I feel like I can almost always maximise the mechs potential.

I've just began to explore an IS mech a Dervish hero that can fire 2x MRM30s and enjoys it very much so, my next purchase will be teh Quickdraw hero as I am sure it can do 2x MRM40s.

Used to be a huge fan of Clan Mechs. After the constant nerfs, exclusive weaponry additions and huge quirks on the IS side, I'd much rather be in a Bushwacker, Marauder or Annihilator instead of a Shadow Cat, Ebon Jag or a Daishi.
