Could PGI please rewrite the instructions displayed during the drop to indicate something along the lines of "Destroy Alpha / Beta to add 15 seconds to the enemy countdown after it has counted down 15 or more seconds."

They are inadequate and misleading instructions, I don't see how new players are to blame for reading and following the instructions. When I started playing I did it, and I have seen it done several times in the last couple of days, even after someone put it out over the air to wait.

Either that or set the clock to 1:00 + 15 when a node is destroyed. My first game I thought that is what would happen, they would start with a 15 second disadvantage because we broke their toy.

Did you not read today's patch notes? Pgi is just now getting around to fixing some minor typos in the ui from the skill tree being added. Don't ever expect pgi to do anything major with mwo from now on that mw5 and its future (sort of maybe 90 days etc) dlc to get made and sold to you at some point.

As for alpha and beta they are pretty much not worth any effort. 15 seconds isn't going to do anything even for a light going light speed.

token objectives, lol.

pgi loves making meaningless objectives with the only purpose of making noobs wander away from the group.

It's almost never worth destroying those meaningless things. Just go to the pee stain, stay together and shoot enemies until there aren't any left.

They are however, hella worth it in FP.

Even then domination is some straight up cancer in FP like 80% of the time.

Most games' scenarios on tabletop, PC have similar design.

For Domination the primary objective is central control.
You accomplish this by being the only ones in there; up front with speed or toward the end after pushing folks out.
Objective can be superceeded and accomplished by default with total elimination.

Secondary objectives are Alpha and Beta. They are secondary, because its NOT the first thing you do. They are back-up or options or nice to haves.

Just a quick thought...how about reversing the effect of alpha and beta? Like when its destroyed you loose time so you might have some people have an eye on it or just go all in and risk loosing those.

I think that'd create something similar to some Assaults in Conquest mode.

And do you concider that good or bad?

Also FP Conquest mode is to me still the best mode of MWO. I can't understand that they don't create a quickplay version of it that gives you multiple drops or even go the Battlefield route, give it more points for longer playtime and have infinite spawns with the option to change your mech every time you die...just like battlefield.

Just figured it was a fairly simple text edit that would remove an annoyance.

How 'bout HGR Fafnir instead? I've seen that happen many times.

And a few XML edits would make the game fun again.

Alas here we are.

It figures I would get a gaming laptop and invest in MWO just in time to watch the algae form around the edges.

All they have to do is change one word:

Instead of "Destroy Alpha / Beta to add 15 seconds to the enemy countdown after it has counted down 15 or more seconds"

say ""Destroy Alpha / Beta to RESTORE 15 seconds to the enemy countdown.

Simple. Problem solved. Not going to happen though.

yup. but this is PGI we're talking; why do it the simple way? or to slightly misquote:
"changing single words costs about 250k and takes at least 3-4 months of work.." ..
