The Ghoul

1934 (Boris Karloff)

This Black and White movie is dark and shadowy, and features a spooky house with a "Z" shaped main stairway.

An Egyptologist is afraid he will return from the dead.

The movie begins with a man mixing some kind of poisonous concoction, only to find himself at knife point by a rival seeking a gem of tremendous value. Called "The eternal light", he sold the gem to a professor who lay in bed gravely ill. A statue of Anubis stands in his bedroom. Shorty after a Catholic Priest is sent away the professor dies of heart failure. Soon after his death, a full moon shines upon the tomb and it opens, and the professor steps out, seeking the gem. The first to fall to the professor is an Egyptian, before his roving corpse scares those present. The movie ends as a free for all grab is made of the gem in a Trust No One spooky adventure. Best to watch at night with a bowl of popcorn.
