What I would like to see is the long Tom activate as previously requested but without the purple smoke. Folks like surprises!

Talking about surprises, it amazes me Ash can hold his head upright considering the size and weight of his ego. Life is absolutely wonderful and full of surprises!

FP was once already nuked from orbit by PGI with the longtom. Most players did not survive the bombardment and the following nuclear winter, and left FP and the game. Do you really want to nuke the few of us who crawled out from under the rocks after the bombs stopped?

So you just want FW nuked out of existence?

The sad fact is there are all ways so many trolls that come out as soon as someone post anything... To bad PG doesn't band people for there negatively on forum post... bet there would be some reconsideration on how we reply to each other...

As I stated before and in a previous post what I want to see is some way to level the field when an op team comes up against pugs. Will it happen? Probably not, but that won't stop me from identifying a problem and putting out a potential solution.

Even if the solution may be considered ignorant or crazy. Got all of you talking.

As for the eliteists they can go crawl back under the rocks they crawled out from under. There are a lot of newer players that think that as well. My limit of being slaughtered by op teams in FW matches is between 3-5 before I realize things are not going to change and quit for the evening.

As for me I have fun "spraying and praying" in qp and FW.

I understand the grouping up and wanting to play with friends. Great. But after two to three matches decimating the FW pug teams have the decency to split the group up. But it won't, and doesn't happen.

So we're right back around to the beginning.

Have a nice day!

sometimes the groups miss each other and hit the random group like a pack of Joe Bidens with tummies full of ice cream and cialis, can't be helped

Again, who are these OP groups? Because I haven't seen more than about 4 high level players in a group at once in quite a while. Mostly I see relatively weak units running large groups, and they aren't OP at all.

I think your definition of high level is much narrower than Mike's.

That seems likely. There's one unit I can think of that sometimes runs larger groups and whose groups have some pretty good players. Otherwise the large groups I see range from about average skill overall (for MWO that is) to downright bad both individually and as a group. With more groups toward the bottom end of that range.

For some OP teams means only the 20 or so players who play in the top 3 comp teams in the game (and everyone who's not is garbage), for others it's the roughly 1% players (and everyone who's not is garbage), for others it's just players that bring good builds and can hit what they're aiming at most of the time (and everyone who's not is garbage), for others it's large groups of any skill that just have someone calling every drop and roll around in a ball (and everyone who's not is garbage), and for others it's just everyone that beat me in a game.

Putting aside the fact the idea behind the mode was to form teams, the problem is the game would have trouble identifying what's an OP team to do anything about it given that even player opinions on what makes an op team vary so greatly.

If you're repeatedly dropping solo against a group that keeps rolling you, you can quit, or you can join or form a team to oppose them (which is what FP drops are supposed to be). Short of a large group of a top 3 comp team, like 8+, no other group I've seen in FP in....at least the last year was unbeatable. If you're being beaten by a 6 man of mixed tags with skill from good to above average working very loosely together running w/e mechs......that does not make them an op team, that just means you chose not to play with a group and the meh group you faced was better than your pug team.....somebody usually has to lose, and if you're not doing what you can to make sure you're not the one, chances are....you will be the one

Teams cannot be specifically be OP as this gamemode is team-centric .

@Orig.Poster : No, just no . Back to the drawing board with that idea .

lol @ Long Tom being a "solution".

It killed the game / population by 1,000s last time, nuked 100s of units all in the space of 3 weeks.. What could possibly go wrong by bringing it back a 2nd time?

What are these totally clueless statements?

Nothing, simply because the game no longer has 1000s of players and 100s of units to worry about. What it does have to worry about is staleness and crisis of ideas. From where it is, the only way is up.

Things can still get worse, they could kill the game off entirely. If they reintroduce long tom I think there's plenty of evidence to back the assumption that the FW queue will essentially die. So at best we'd be left with QP and maybe groupq during peak hours if the 8v8 experiment works to revive that queue beyond the first few days after the change.

Unlikely to happen while they still hold the license. A lot can be done within five years, and even if it is not, this game has one of the most hardcore fanbases ever. The game has not seen an update in over a year now, and people keep playing and occasionally even spending. In what universe is that possible? Only in Battletech. At least the body twitched with the GQ update, so they are trying something. I have played in GQ, like, a couple of times, and I still welcome the change, just because they care bother.

You actually believe that Long Tom would improve the game?
