Hey all,

I've read through a few of thé past threads on Crouching and nobody mentioned how it would greatly changé thé use or our currently maps. Thé potentiel to discover new l'os positions and then d'endive points to exploit is enormous. It would completely change thé Map dynamics and allow for greater défensive tactics to combat thé current ring of roses cattle herding, Chinese dragon rating it's tail... Etc. So on and so forth.

You are a bit late. There were many good ideas in the years but its not like PGI bothered to listen. Now you dont really need to waste your energy. Not like there is any developement coming in the near future.

And yet we keep them coming, nothing wrong with theory crafting.

Heck, PGI can't keep the IP forever if they aren't going to work on the game. Maybe someone will pick it up and run with it someday.

Yes, considering the design of the legs you should be able to get hull down, raise up and fire and drop back down.

Also you should have a sensor mast on the mech so the cockpit doesn't have to be above terrain to get a lock. Longbow.

I enjoy these discussions, even if the game itself is a dumpster fire right now.

Other games have taunts, this one should too.
Edit for clairity:
The Crouching on the dead mech taunt. Player chooses the naughty spot.

If I recall crouching was considered but there was a reason not to implement it, possibly technical. I don't think it was forgotten or ignored. Also let's not push away suggestions purely because we have an axe to grind with the game's developers. That's useless to new players.

our only hope is that the plug gets pulled, someone does a server emulator and modders can finally get at it.

I remember crouching in the Virtual World Battletech pods. I usually played the Blackhawk (IS Nova copy), it could crouch below the weapon line of the Loki and Sunder if you got them in a corner.

I can see why crouching could be an easily abused mechanic in this game.

Just like moving and shooting at the same time.
Some can, some cannot
Nothing a good Match maker couldn't fix. O wait...nvm

Do you aspect mechs to crouch like people in any other FPS? Mechs would more likely take 5-10 seconds to crouch and then get back up and I doubt they are agile enought to move around crouched so you would just sitting there. Except for an ambush or hiding in a corner that dosn't make much sense to me. Espacialy with the scale of mechs your upper torso would most likely still look above the cover ^_^

This is a shooter, we all know what people use crouching for.

It can have some niche uses like shooting under HPG ramps, but I don't think it will be OP in any way. If you can't move while crouching - you'll be easier to hit even with smaller profile, if you can - it's just gonna look silly https://media.tenor....131f8/tenor.gif

Thanks to the combination of physical controls and neurohelmet, talented MechWarriors can perform great feats in their 'Mechs, whether side-stepping an incoming missile or performing a handstand in controlled circumstances.

Who cares about crouching, I want to see an Urbie do a headspin.

it's about aesthetics; it just wouldn't look good on a battlemech; it's a battlemech, not some gundam-or-whatever with athletic movement.

a battlemech walks/runs with style, all guns blazing. crouching .. might as well yell "hold locks pls". Posted Image
