I loved this franchise since the first Mechwarrior PC game came out around 30 years ago, but Russ "4uckernuts" Bullock and PGI killed it for me.
Maybe if EPIC GAMES gives MW5 out as a freebie one day I'll give it a try. As long as I can fool myself into believing Russ gets no money out of it.
Enjoy the game, just don't give the ******** any money at this point. They care as little for you as I care for them.

As a franchise yes, but not as genre. There will be other robot games.

Story of MWO is following:
1) Pump all money from MWO to develop MW5
2) Completely forget about MWO due to having money from MW5 sales
3) Run out of money and remember about MWO
4) Put everything on sale almost every week to bring players back
5) Merge queue due to lack of players
6) ...
7) PROFIT!

1) MW5 DLC 1
2) MW5 DLC 2
3) MW5 Clan Expansion
4) MWO2
i have a feeling it will go more like
1 mw5 dlc
2 mw5 dlc fails to sell
3 pgi gets out of mw and finds some other old franchise to exploit.
i mean they could do their own ip, but they haven't exactly instilled any brand loyalty with their current and past customers. hell if i see pgi on any reboot of any of my past beloved franchises, im probably going to give it a pass and spare myself the grief.

Disney did it. EA kind of redeemed themselves with their latest Star Wars game although it's a mix-'n-mash of features from loads of UBIsoft games. That said, Mandalorian was kind of good.
