Anyone else wondering what is the future of MWO after the DLC release for MW5? Not everyone here is a huge fan of 5 and would like to know if there are any plans for future engine reworks, mechs, maps, or weapons that are going to be added. Just wanted to see who else out there is thinking the same.

I hope MWO has no future and MWO2 with all lesson learned will be developed but maybe it is better to keep the Sparrow and not ask for the Turkey bcs you may lose both.

As long as pgi has it it is nothing more than a cash grab. Check back in 20 years from M$ to see if the ip gets a better game. EA could do better at this point.

There is no future for MW:O. It will finally die and a new team of developers who actually care about the franchise will take over and hopefully push a product out that surpasses the minimal requirements for a video game.

Piranha dropped this game for MW5 and that game is doing horribly. Mediocre to bad reviews, huge chunks of players refusing to buy it due to Epic. The game is even more half-assed than MW:O is, and that's saying something.

There is a angry, burning thread on MW5 calling it a steaming pile of ____ right now on Reddit's r/pcgaming.

But that's on reddit. It has no relevance here.

Its a hot topic on a reddit forum with 1.9 million members. Think about that.

Not a member of reddit but decided to look this one up.

616 votes at the time of this post on a forum with 1.9 million members.
16 other posts in the past 24 hours with less then 100 votes considered "hot topic".

Doesn't require much thought.

[EDIT: my own thoughts on the future of MW:O]

I don't see another attempt at an F2P mech simulator title by a game dev studio set in the B-tech universe anytime soon, probably more of the same "Multiplayer tacked onto a Single Player game", not counting MW:LL of course.

Even without knowing the topic, just going by the numbers ... 616 of 1.900.000 people thats about 0.03%.
Wow what a representation of opinions. Except those 0,03% make up 90% of the money spenders on your game that number means pretty much....nothing.

They will use the unreal 5 engine for photorealistic graphics, implent a challenging and complex close combat system and greatly balanced ai created maps that change every drop. In addition the perfect ai joins weak teams just to make them a challenge for the other team.

The new faction war ai creates new missions permanently and teaches new players in a special mode. Even when there arent enough players its no problem, because the ai imitates humans so perfectly (its even salty), nowbody ever knows if its human or
.
....and then i woke up, realized the sad reality and started to get drunk. Prost !

Yep, sounded way too good to be true

Hi Leone,

I played MW5 and I have to admit that most of this rant is true.
The current state feels like a early Alpha, AI is stupid like hell to non existent, enemy spawn behind you and it is not playable without better-spawn-mod, the story missions seem to be generic bs despite two and the generic missions are boring as hell and and and ...
MWO is a gem against this crap.
Maybe in a year after the First full conversion mod, and somebody did some good missions, and a good radar was implemented, and lanzemate KI was invented and ...
But not waste your money and your time earlier.
Sorry.

To me MW5 was dead as soon as the Epic bait-and-switch was outed. If you can't play square with your customers right out of the gate, then the hell with you. No dollars from me. Same reason I stopped spending real money on MWO.

Has reddit been deemed an "island" by the "relevant" parties ?

I played MW5 for 15 hours, got bored and uninstalled it and deleted my account (I had not read anything much about Epic when I got excited by MW5 coming out). The graphics were acceptable, but the game itself was completely uninspired. Imagine if a porn producer was hired to write a video game but told no sex or nudity. So, a plot as bland and predictable as dinner at McDonalds and the same repetitive crap, mission after mission.

thats the Big Problem with procedual Terrain and genric missions...Algorithms have no sense for creativity and Art..same problem like No Mans Sky...generic Parts over and over and over mixed and you seeing one ,you seeing all

The whole world is made of generic parts that seldom fit together which is why beautyful places are so rare and have so much fame.

Aside of that Level Building has not improved but declined in the Industry even if done by Hand - Minecraft makes better Levels than most people are able or allowed to do.

It is probably a thing of mainstreaming the genre and/or valuing non essential traits over ability.

Jagged Alliance (1+2) is a fantastic game that would have been even better with random Maps, i allways had wished that Jagged Alliance would have a mariage with X-com...well.
