Death from above doesn't seem to be in this game.
Would that be hard to add?

I think someone wanted this on the forums but i do not know where to post it so here you go.
Hopefully in the right place?

PGI decided against physical attacks in MWO many years ago.

Don't forget to point out it was because in one game versus GOON a PGI member was "dragon bowled" (at the time dragons had the best attributes for knockdowns for some reason).

Since the GOON trapped this developer in an area and instead of killing him, knocked him down on multiple occasion (and i believe posted the affair somewhere online)- instead of modifying their own code to tweak the frequency at which one can be knocked down, changing their own rules to state that consistent knockdowns without damage will be considered griefing, or any of multiple other changes that could have been made PGI decided to remove collision from the game entirely.

An entire feature of this game was removed because it annoyed a developer that one time.

PGI took knockdown and collision out of the game early on, when the guys from GOON trolled Paul by keeping him on his *** for 5 minutes.

One of the rare moments when Dragon was actually useful for something. Posted Image

That's the meme, but the truth is that the collision mechanics in MWO were absolutely horrible. They looked atrocious visually, and being knocked down sent you into 3rd person watching a stupid get-up animation where you had no direct control over your mech, which complete broke the immersion of being a pilot. There was no way they could kept in the state they were in, so the option was to either remove them or remake them completely. And if they couldn't do them better removing them was a good decision. I'm pretty sure the decision was on its way with or without the gooning incident.

That is a bananas end to a match. I have seen a few of weaponless 1v 1 ram-fests to close out a match. One weaponless 2 v 1.....However, a 3 v 1 of weaponless mechs is something I have never ever seen, nor would expect to see.

This is one of the reasons I try and not to use ammo dependent mechs unless I'm just out trolling with some thing like the Oxide. One sml at least for minimal back up weapon.

If you're not out of ammo, that is.

been in a few of these situations before. i wouldn't mind if the collision damage was increased a small amount. not as much as it was when you could crush lights to death that one infamous patch, but enough where no ammo situations aren't so long and drawn out. dfa would be nice but considering the weakness of the jump jets i think id rather this low tech solution be done instead.

You could have all just alt tabbed out. The enemy had no way to kill 3 mechs, so they had no chance to change the outcome of battle.
