I recently went back to my Wolverine medium, and wow, won the the match! I had been using heavy and assault for awhile, and forgot how nimble the mediums are.

Can anyone suggest a good medium as my next purchase? I like lasers and missiles. :) Thanks!

The Bushwhacker is a versatile platform, it can do missiles and some laser and is good with dakka. The Crab is good for laser work.

Good hunting,

Vindicator variants can run missile and lasr builds. Hardpoints and speed aren't stellar, but this thing have serious quirks to compensate.

If you have MC you can buy Wolverine Quarantine, it's the best MRM platform out there. Light engine, jump jets, MRM60 and you are set.

Quickdraw is best MRM platform, Wolverine can barely run MRM 60 with LE engine and get worse quirks.

Trebuchet 7M is potentially better with MRM40+MRM20, but its a narrow niche.

Treb is also the best LRM mech in the game, tho.

The Bushwacker X1 and X2 can do just about whatever you want. Use the torso mounts and strip the arm armor to save tonnage. The VND-1X (skills) is a hell of a good time with its crazy quirks and generally being underestimated on the field.

If you are relatively new though, I would recommend picking up a Centurion and building it as something like this (build) (skills), running it as a tanky flanker-brawler, doing hit-and-run alpha strikes on opportunistic targets. It's extremely good for teaching you how to properly torso twist and damage spread, how to manage your heat in the thick of the action (use override), and how to pick out opponents' weak points, which are all essential skills for succeeding in this game. If you're doing it right, this is one of the most durable mediums out there thanks to its speed and hitboxes/shield arm, capable of dealing a serious punch of damage and then shrugging off retaliation fire to disappear and attack from another angle—but if you're doing it wrong, you'll die fast to a side torso kill.

If you're going to jam an XL engine into it, you might as well go fast as possible. Especially if you can do so without any notable sacrifices. VND-1AA

I like this one, too. I go back and forth between max speed & max armor. I usually stick with the max armor version.

How about this VND-1AA It doesn't overheat from its two AMS's, has JJs and carries an ample amount of ammo for the weapon you invest most of your tonnage into.

There are more interesting mechs for MRM, and Trebuchet runs well with s-srm.
