So I was just playing around smurfy, and saw battlemaster and the wubmaster. I was thinking that, it would be awesome to see a ballistic battlemaster on the torso. The 6 lasers were pretty, i bet ACs would be pretty too. Originally Sentinel was to go with RAC2s, but now with LACs on YAM mod, I think it could work.
As for the story, I was just stoked by the Battle of Tukayyid, i thought of adding a little story for my little Yuna Cassel. It's my first try of a fiction, i think i suck at it, but i wanted to do it anyways.
On the balance side, I'm not a balancing guru, but the quirks are your average battlemaster stuff, but with a twist. As opposed of a torso-twist penalty, it comes with engine-cap penalty, because i wanted it to be a slow mech.
While we already have the Mauler to compete with the Kodak-3, poorly, i hope that this high-mounted Battlemaster could do the trick, albeit pay-to-optimize. Also, to high mount 2 gauss rifles means it needs 2 more MG each side torso for a total of junk 1-ton for 4 LMGs.

First time for everything, it was the first time for the young ComStar Engineer, Yuna Cassel. The Battle of Tukayyid was her first brush of an all-out war. She, along with her associates was assigned with the ComGuards 278th Division Engineer, tasked with battlemech maintenance, to setting up defences as they held out at the city Skupo. She and other engineers tried to keep the barricade up, communications working, and battlemechs still able to take much more punishment.
The 278th Division was able to fall back to the city, but as they did the Clan Wolf forces was able to resume their attack. The 282nd Division fell, so did the Ninth’s Army 198th, the 247th Division, even the 138th Division’s ambush was quelled. All their sacrifices and they just kept coming and coming, until the 278th Division was surrounded. Beam after beam, shell after shell, explosion after explosion, ammunition were running dry, light from laser beams were losing their shine, armor and cover were being eroded by heavy fire.
On some repair bay, the last of the 278th was cooped up along with some of the remaining engineers, piecing together all they could find; it was nothing more than spare parts enough to build a battlemaster. Nicknamed “Sentinel” -- an ironic name for all they could do for the moment is look, helpless as the city were being reduced to ruins. The BLR-4SL is a complete jury-rig of one of the retrieved fallen Battlemasters, and it was their last ticket out of the city, one sliver of hope for Yuna and her colleagues.
Needing a fresh rewiring, only the arms were mostly intact. The damaged wires upon the torsi could not handle the immense power-surge required by many energy weapons. Thinking of on her feet, Yuna armed the torso with ballistic weapons instead, but stricken with limited ammunition supply she improvised with what they have.
Each torso is armed with three Light AC/2s made from their abundant AC/2s; lightened by shortening the barrels. And at cockpit level are two semi-portable, Light Machine-Guns; even more accurate at a longer range than the standard machine-guns at a downside of using small-arms ammunition; those high-caliber rounds commonly used with Sniper Rifles and Medium Machine-Guns.
For amenities, it has a single Laser AMS; an Anti-Missile System replacing the Machine-Gun with a low-heat Small-Pulse-Laser. Along with a Medium-Range Missile 10; modifying the LRM10s to shoot a volley of 20 unguided missiles commonly used as man-portable anti-vehicle weapon, and unlike Rocket-Launchers, reload is automated.
For the arms, she mounted a total of three Extended Range Medium Lasers, complementing the LAC/2s on their range. The use of an endosteel frame along with a rudimentary Light Fusion Engine - built from half-and-half pieces of Standard Engine and Extra-Light Engines – allows it to bear many weapons all at once and four additional double heat-sinks keeps it cool. Upon the head is a 1-ton heavy mainframe-computer linked with the Battlemech's weapon fire-control systems to better automate firing solutions; an early Level-1 Targeting Computer.
The last of their team was to retreat, with the last 278th Division MechWarrior just to board the jury-rigged Battlemaster, they were hit by a stray artillery shell, tearing the warehouse open leaving the remaining support team wounded, and the last 278th Division MechWarrior killed in action. With nobody to fight for them, Yuna jumped in the Battlemech and piloted it herself.
Bloodied, unknown of whether it was hers, her comrades’, or her enemies’, she wiped it off her face and secured herself inside. With the Sentinel primed and ready, she stood up guns blazing; she was ready to trade her life for her friends to be spared. The medics and engineers sucked up the pain, and with the remaining vehicles, they took off leaving Yuna to fight for herself.
With the last of the divisions having their own problems to deal with, Yuna led some of the Wolves away as she made her way at the edge of the city, fighting along the way with reckless abandon. On arms reach with the Thor, she locked its arm with her own preventing the PPC from sending a bolt to her battlemech, and then face to face she chewed through its center-torso with the fury of her sextuplets of auto-cannons.
An incoming Loki just beside her was about to ram its arm to her, but with a turn she hit it’s torso with her elbow. Discombobulated, she ripped across its damaged legs, and knocked it down. Effectively out of the fight, yet she took the time to pound the fallen Loki – raining shells across its torso. She was losing it.
Another was some Uller scout, heavily damaged by a previous encounter; it took her nothing more than a short flurry of shells to take it down. But her going down to pound the Uller to oblivion she found the scattered remains of the rest of her team – taken down by this Uller. Despite her sacrifice, they couldn’t get out.
Snapping back, she looked around, listened to the radio, and found nothing. She was all alone at the edge of Skupo.
Yuna survived, it wasn’t because she was with the 278th Division, rather she wasn’t. She looked back and saw nothing but the smoldering machinery. There was nothing for her to fight for in that city, her allies were dead. She was crying as she was picked up by the remaining ComStar forces on her way towards Brzo.

Spoiler
If we're ever going to have second hero mechs, I'd like a ballistic Thunderbolt. I wanted it to be different in two ways; most missile hardpoints, and the high-mounted ballistic variant.
"Edelweiss" is the theme I chose, the unknown pilot is supposed to be German, and the 2x RAC2 primary weapon by the right-torso is supposed to mirror the MG3 and it's high rate of fire. It should have a large "flower" by the right torso just by the rotary ACs, as it's supposed to be a powerful shell that gave it.
The Edelweiss or Leontopodium nivale while German, it is also used as a symbol by many other organizations, for it mainly symbolizes alpinism, this is why the variant has jump jets.
The story is relatively short, I based it from the late stages of the Civil War, at the second battle of the New Avalon.
So, what do you think? Is the lore okay? do you mind a ballistic thunderbolt? What about the quirks, what about the hardpoints?

What came in the repair bay is this TDR-7SE, so much armor has been stripped and most of it is by it's right side. The right torso has suffered a powerful hit, providing it massive flower-shaped mark with a massive hole.
The FedCom Civil War was nearing it's end with the impending victory of Victor Steiner-Davion at the New Avalon, with this pilot's only regret is being unable to see it through the end.
With a thick German accent, he held upon Yuna Cassell's hand and begged her. There were tears with blood as he held upon her hand. As pilot's dying wish, Yuna patched up the Thunderbolt (TDR-7SE) the best she could, and allowed the pilot to return to duty.
The engine has been upgraded into a Light-Fusion Engine, there is only two jump-jets remaining, only providing jump distance of 60 meters. With only a few supplies she could get, the 'mech is protected by nine and a half tons of light ferro-fibrous armor.
Yuna had an idea of transferring the ballistic mount at the right-torso on account with the hole that was made by the impact. The primary weapon has been changed to a pair of Rotary Autocannon 2 provides a blistering amount of rate of fire, the use of which allows it to rip across vehicles, infantry, and battlemechs alike. Although with two tons of ammunition, it is usually exhausted pretty quickly. Due to the already fragile right-torso, she protected it by CASE.
For long range support it has 10-tube Long-Range Missiles situated at the left torso with a ton of reload. The Medium Lasers upon the torso have been upgraded to Extended Range Medium Lasers. And for close-range, and it has a pair of 4-tube Short-Ranged Missiles, one in each side-torso, and has a ton of reload. Against infantry and other lightly-armored vehicles, it has two Extended Range Small Lasers by the left arm.
Christened "Edelweiss" because of the flower-shaped scar of the battlemech by the right-torso, the mark of the true soldier, it stands for duty, loyalty, for brotherhood. Yuna and this soldier never met again after the Civil War, but she knew that he died as he lived -- serving his fellow men.

So my previous thread was hijacked by an offended-person due to the allusion of their problematic history, by basing the weapon it uses with the high rate of fire of MG42, which was the 3rd-Reich LMG. I also don't understand the "too german" part, we can't be "german" anymore? as if modern German Army are incapable of standing for honor, loyalty, brotherhood, duty just as many other Armies in the world?
McVallium told me not to base the theme from the problematic history in my next try. So here it is -- based from MG3 and Bundeswehr.. If that still offends people, that's more of their issue than being inherently offensive. No more allusion to the {Godwin's Law} Germany just because it's the MG42 -- cause now it's not

Pilot: Yuna Cassel
Faction: ComGuard
Known as the "Imperator", the MAD-1MP is one of the few retrofits of the venerable Marauder made during the assault on Terra, by the Chief Engineer Yuna Cassel. Nothing fancy or innovation, it's just a straightforward cramming of whatever they could arm the damned thing, but what is needed. With a 375-rating Extra-Light Engine and a pair of Jump-Jet, the Imperator was known for it's speed, thought it gave little for firepower.
Upon it's arms were a pair of ER Medium Lasers in each, weaker than the usual PPCs but it's adequate given the current situation, however it is without lower-arm actuators that affected it's accuracy. By the right torso is a single Rotary AC5, capable of blistering rate of fire by all on it's own, and upon the left torso is an Medium-Range Missile Launcher with 30 tubes.
Equipped with a total of 16 Double heatsinks, it proved to be quite a cold setup that the incoming Celestials and their Plasma Rifles couldn't easily overheat, and with 13 tons of Light Ferro-Fibrous armor, it's not an easy nut to crack either.
