I´m currently running MWO with an i3-4150 (3.5Ghz), a Radeon RX-580, 16gb of ram and Windows 10 Pro. Frame rate is around 35-60 but mostly under 60fps.

Is it worth it to upgrade to a beefier and newer cpu like a Ryzen 5 or and intel equivalent?. Will it improve the frame rate in MWO to at least not drop below 60fps?

TIA.

MWO is very CPU intensive. That said, while upgrading, make sure your new processor has a solid single core performance, because MWO is not designed to use multiple threads. Also, you'd have to update your Motherboard as well and then you might as well need newer RAM to not bottleneck your performance.

Totally worth it.

I went from an Intel i3-9100 to a i7-10700KF
Made a Hugh diference in star citizen. From 20FPS to 70fps Posted Image Posted Image

MWO runs better too, I get 70-144 FPS , running stock 10700KF CPU with a Nvidia 1080 (not 1080Ti)

Spoiler

MWO ran OK with the i3 but I notice I get better hitreg as well as FPS with the faster 10700KF CPU

Also your GPU looks OK as one of last years stronger performers

So yeah upgrade that CPU, Doo eet

I can personally recommend the 10700KF, plenty of cores to future proof, high clock speed 5GHz, its guid bang for the buck.

Also it has faster clock speeds than AMD CPU's I believe, which is better for many games still, and why I chose this over AMD offerings.

If you must, wait for Black Friday sales if you're in the US (Nov 27) or Cyber Monday (Nov 30) for pricing that might be the best of the year.

Before u decide on any upgrades u should ask yourself a few questions (and give us more info).
Ofcourse better cpu will give u far better fps in mwo (single core speed is the only thing mwo cares).
If u plan to upgrade, what is your budget and goal. Typical games u play, any professional work your system should be capable of or just gaming? Full list of your current system (powersupply! , ssd?, ram speed and model if u know it). Resolution? Is fhd enough or do u want to get to 2k.

Since I don't have this infos I can only hint u in some estimates directions. If u mostly play and this in fhd (at least your current machine looks like this). Than can get good fps /eur/$ with Intel 10400f, ryzen 3600 and intel 10600k. The 580 should still do it for at least another year in fhd and with gpu update later on u can switch 2 2k if wanted. AMD offers u a good upgrade path (new ryzen inbound) and better multi core power. Pure gaming and if u want 2 oc (watch your cooling and powersupply) the 10600k is rly close to the enthusiast cpus with faaaaaar better pricing (prime sales etc. It was around 200 Eur in germany).

I am rly curious about the inbound ryzen 5600 non x in q1/2021.
