Anything for the Protector? Since other ON1s lend themselves to AC brawling, I flip between Gauss/LL and Gauss/MRM/ML. Always middling, and despite heavy armor the thing gets hosed fast. I had Gauss/HPPC for a while; it was situational but had occasional numbers while still justifying the variant. But, yeah.

ON1-VA 4xSRM6+UAC20 or 4xASRM6+AC20. Both are viable. On other variants you're looking for a variation on that. Only 3 missile hardpoints, to 3xASRM6. Less than 3, go MRM.

It's a great surprise attacker, the trick is to double-tap the UAC (and Snub) and follow up with a chain firing of the rockets to take advantage of their crit boost vs. internals.

Sucks on polar.

I like AC 10 on VA lose some close range damage but better heat when close to shut down and gives me little mid range poke

Err... that's a Warhammer WHM-6R that you've just shared, in an Orion mech build thread...

(Another poster above also posted WHM-6R as well, quite confusing to me...)

Oh snarky reply to Nightbird doing just that LOL posted a Warrhammer peaking build in a post about Orion mechs. Orion's are pretty much brawlers and I was posting a better brawler Warhammer

OK, now that there are two posters advocating Warhammer WHM-6R over the Orion:

Q: What's so good about the Warhammer WHM-6R ?
Is it because of the two side torso ballistic hardpoints, one on each side?

Q: Why not add Two (2) of RAC5, one on each torso, as opposed to the proposed two (2) UAC10?
Does it get too hot when both are used at the same time?

(I also noticed that WHM-6R is a very popular mech in Faction Play (FP), both for its tonnage and hardpoint layout).

Orion has better quirks more armor and is over all a better brawler the Warrhammer has good hard points on some variants and is 5 tons lighter

For Orion ON1-V, with the -30% UAC/5 Jam chance:

Q: If I added RAC5 into above mech, would this quirk also decrease my RAC5 jam chance?
(I've never seen a -% RAC jam chance reduction anywhere, hence this question).

Warhammers are just good mechs.

Orions have terrible mounts and hardpoint locations. Their bigboy armour quirks don't really make up for it. The only build of note is the pretty standard brawler build, OV1 VA with an AC20 and SRM6. A few agility buffs and they could be pretty cool.

Bad geometry and hardpoints can really kill a mech

Rac5s are terrible. One of the worst weapons in the game.

UAC10s are a great weapon. Pretty much the gold standard for ballistic weaponry and anything you can fit dual uac10s in is going to be effective.

UAC quirks do not affect RAC weaponry.

The only RAC-specific quirk is "jam ramp down duration" and that can be found on a Rifleman. But again, RAC5s are horrible. Too hot, too much spread, not enough range etc.

Said it before you boys lack creativity and just because you can't make good build don't mean it's a mech bad. You guys are like if some gave you a Lego set and said build something you would just use the rectangle blocks

You can ask the forum moderator to merge both threads to keep all your Orion builds together.
