Allow player to initiate self-destruct in all game modes, and let the cook-off inflict damage on foe and friend alike.

You mean, getting your 'Mech crippled or outright destroyed just because some random useless "friendly" player next to me considered it to be a good idea?

1. You can "Override" and die of overheating, pumping much more damage than usual just before your mech die.
Heard that this "would" steal the kill from your enemy, counted as "sui cide".

2. Perhaps a self-destruct button and exploding after a few seconds be counted as a Premium (need to pay MC) feature?
:)

I personally feel this may be exploited... how about sending in a ECM stealth light mech into the main enemy group at the beginning of fight, and then Self-Destruct? And you think artillery strike was bad...

MechWarrior Online is one huge Solaris reality TV show, if the network execs think suicide bombing the enemy team is bad for the show, you won't get to do it. Just like how strategic positioning and stealth aren't considered worth rewarding, hence the horrifically high TTK.

PGI likes the status quo, MWO is about boating something, and rotating fast enough to score a ton of damage in the nascar before you die and spectate the face-hugging light mechs that should've died first strut around like they're alive because of skill.

TL;DR: Never going to happen, best you could hope for is a simple damaging splash on death like in MW4, but certain light mech pilots would shoot that proposal down like melee, because the pinnacle of skill in their eyes is hugging the legs of assaults with impunity and coring them out without any risk of a reactor explosion.
