we are likely headed for a new lootbag event for xmas.

im surprised they didn't do their solaris kickoff event with the patch. thats usually worth a couple hundred mc, more if you wait an eternity for people who want to play 2v2.

maybe pgi can just start paying out mc for playing the game. then i can grind for pokemechs. id like to see mc and mech bays in supply caches again. ive given these people enough money.

Is it a joke, or a serious answer?

The worst moments in the history of MWO often happened when you thought that Russ Bullock must be joking ...

Loyalty Reward program ends 24-Nov-2020, so a few more days before it finishes.

For the past few years, there are Black Friday event for a few days.
So for this year, *maybe* it would be Nov 26th to Dec 2nd, which is my own guess.

Oh, and there are usually Christmas events too coming up, hopefully!

All those challenges are boring and still the same anyway: Do 1000 damage points with ballistic weapons, do 1000 points with energy weapons, do 1000 points with missiles, etc.

Plus points, if the challenge requires 'Mechs that I do not own, so I can ignore 3/4 of the challenge right from the beginning.

After weekend events almost every single week for over a year... they've realised they can keep people busy by making lots of forum threads about ideas that will never happen instead.

I mostly play for the events now. Almost all my mechs are fully skilled, I don't need daily doubles. Hundreds of millions of c bills, don't need to grind money. If there's no MC or anything on the table, it's not that much fun dropping with the same 50 odd people again and again. I just play other games.

think of it more as a bribe to get people to play.

They are working hard on that player retention, aren’t they?

i havent played since i finished the lootbag event. i dont even think i ran my prize mech yet.

i only really play to work on my hero mech collection. but without there being any mc on the table i cannot do that.

Steamers would probably skip the event. We've been waiting for MW5 for an entire year.

you haven't really been missing anything.

i want to run absurd builds and clear maps. pgi missed the mark on both of those.

I know they ****** MW5 up like they did in MWO, but the difference is that modders can fix their **** for them, unlike MWO. Yes they need a bit of update now, but if if it wasn't for modders, I wouldn't buy the game.

Yall could still be reminiscing for the days where there used to be balance, and PGI keeps promising to do something about it, only to either do nothing or too little, or flat out do the opposite. Meanwhile I'll be on MW5, on the graces of modders who know what they are doing like Navid A1 (MW5 Reloaded) and MagnumGB (MercTech), and they might be able to do what PGI is just too incompetent to do.

As for the maps and missions, who knows? Maybe more modders could make more. Not me though, I ain't touching EGS. **** Epic.

There's been no new content in 2 years, no actual patch in a year, MM is now "yeah cadets can play tier 1 groups"... what makes you think player retention isn't top priority?

Yeah, pretty much. Essentially, it is a PGI's admission that MWO itself is not interesting enough for people to play it without a special incentieve.

Those Solaris 7 rewards are the same case.

i think solaris's problem is that it takes too damn long to get a match. you have to play division roulette to get a match, someone can join at the last second and steal your spot. needs an autojoin feature that can shove searching players into matches as quickly as possible (2v2 should also allow pugs to autojoin). its faster and easier to get into a qp match it seems and the game lasts a bit longer in proportion to the amount of time spent waiting.

My guess is we'll see something this week to coincide with the Loyalty stuff and Black Friday etc. Even though gameplay is actually better during non-event times, I too find I'm only drawn to play during events where I can earn MC and cockpit items now. I have more mechs than good-looking cockpit decor, so I'll keep falling into that trap. In all likelihood I'll just wind up with even more Coal standing items, but whatever.

What it comes down to in the end with events is sadly this- they're PGI's way of paying us to keep finding reasons to not quit MWO, because we have to find/make our own enjoyment, and the core game is so bare and lacking this many years in. It's sad, it's toxic, but it's the reality of MWO.
