I had someone take the command star in a match just now, specifically because he "cannot mute my commands". I get it, I know a lot of people don't like me, but I'm pretty sure what you did is break the rules for your own benefit.

Why is the * important? Communications. Specifically, the use of the command wheel. When you take the star with the express, spoken purpose of preventing someone from making good use of it you're deliberately handicapping your own team and thus preventing someone else from making good use of it.

Am I factually incorrect for calling such a thing griefing?

Sounds like you're the one griefing your teams by spamming communications if someone went this far to stop you.

The command system is hilariously awful in this game. I'm not surprised someone tried to prevent its use. Everything about it is poorly implemented.

Quite the opposite, whoever took that command wheel is the ultimate team player, and I would like to buy them a beer.

Clueless people playing mechcommander, who do not know how to play this game or how it works. There isn't many things that are more annoying than that.

So if you would do that in 1st game we are in together, I would sure as hell take command 2nd game.

I wouldn't necessarily call it griefing, but it is a douche move.

Its the only game a solo casual can play these days and have fun
Carry on
rekt their lance , hahaha plus no match score deduction for Team killing

If they have a problem they should complain to their friends instead of clubbing soloes,
Who'es the real douchbags

If I played more than one match in a night where someone was using that command system I would just log out and do something else. That is as annoying as listening to an insurance company phone tree as you try to get to the "Talk to a person who gives a crap" option.

No it's called Sissy Nerves Frustration Syndrome. Happens to all sometimes. Shoot PPC or something right above their heads to make them fall from the chair.

Encourage griefing with more griefing. Nothing will go wrong there.

to give this all a more positive turn (while not debating certain points):

since nobody seems willing to follow your commands anyway, why not keep off of it;
use your new-found time to practice positioning, aiming and heat-manangement;
your stats go up this way, while the team's rest, less annoyed, will maybe perform better then, too.
-> it's a win for all ;)

Not sure where you got that no one is willing to follow his orders. One troll does not speak for all.

If you have read most of this thread, most people are not willing to follow orders of a random player who isn't good at this game.

Not sure where you got that there's just one troll. I see a bridge of trolls. But they're right though.

"Following Orders" in a pick up group is ridiculous on its face.

I would hardly call this thread a large enough sample size to come to that conclusion. I also take command and have found that pugs follow my orders more often than not. What you are suggesting is that I am a "good "player with enough renown that people are willing to follow my orders.

The alternative you're suggesting is the majority of pugs are running a check on jarls for players who take command before they drop...

From the sounds of things someone taking command to stop him (in game) was an isolated incident. Forum goers, we're all trolls trolling each other. Though the biggest troll I dare say is PGI... and we keep falling for it.

you want to take command use your mic. using the map commands is for armchair commanders.

there are a few commanders in this game that i still respect. but its a very short list. in part because good commanders are rare, and many have left the game. i imagine its especially frustrating when all the pick up players cant even be bothered to know who the good drop callers are.
