Mwo Crashes Recently

Hi everyone,

running an new system: Ryzen 5950, Ballistix 4000 DDR4, RTX 2070, MSI Ace x570, Viper M2 Gen4 2 TB – despite the ram notthing is overclocked, the ram runs in his specifications.

Win 10 on latest updates + all drivers (including Mainboard, Chipset etc.) updated.

Since about a month ago or so my game regularly crashes like 4 times per hour. Since the system ist VERY stable otherwise, i am running out of options. I tried to figure out what changed, reinstalled the game from steam etc. No mods or Soundpacks installed.

Could use some suggestions. (:

Got any error reports? What exactly happens? Can you provide the omicron.log?

Hi, ich try to find out where to find the omicron.log. When the game crashes, it does this data collect thingy and then wants to send a report of 58MB to somewhere.

Maybe i can access those logs?

Nah, i think it crashed right at the end. The amount of errors with those sound devices makes me suspicious – i might change around the output device and see where it gets me.

Just because j run your ram in xmp profile does not mean, that it will work.
Mwo hates unstable ram oc. Xmp is oc!
And the new ryzen often got problems with ram oc (xmp should work though). U got newest bios for your board and chipsetdriver?

I dont think, that it is your ram, but xmp does not guarantee, that it is working.

in my experience, an unstable RAM oc on a ryzen *can* cause an instant game quit ... usually this isnt much of a problem, until things are being pushed up to their limits .... and if your ram is running at its rated 4000 mhz .... well, then ... maybe ...

on my 2600x I actually used MWO as a ram test, it would crash/fail within 10 minutes and be far faster to show me problems than running an actual memory test .... a proper memory test wouldnt show a failure until 10-12 hours .... I never quite figured out why, but I think its just the types of operations being carried out, seeign as nearly everything within these early versions of crysis is a floating point op ...

my 1st gen ryzen would get unstable past 3466 mhz
my 2nd gen ryzen would get unstable around 3600 mhz
my 3rd gen ryzen gets unstable above 3800 mhz
the 4th gen was eaten by consoles, with only a handful of laptop chips making it out of zombieland
the 5th gen ryzen, yours, will get weird at 4000 mhz ... it could be running @ 1:1 with the IF, or worse and weirder, I think it was estimated to be 12 odd percent that would run the Infinity Fabric at 1:1 @ 2000 mhz ( 4000 mhz ddr )

XMP profiles only contain a very small portion of the complete memory settings, .... and I think intels implementation comes out far better than AMD's, with the primary reason being, that AMD were nowhere to be seen when the intel got together with the manufacturers to hammer out the spec .... I'm pretty sure, when you enable it on an intel machine, the motherboard is much better at setting the secondary and tertiary timings to be something that will just work and be stable, as defined by the limits of which processors can go onto which boards, arbitrarily restricted by intel on pretty much every generation they offer ... even when things could be pin compatible, they choose not to make it so .... forcing the majority of people to, purchase their crap again, because its a new half generation that isnt compatible with whatever you've got .... intel taught apple all about forced obsolescence, but thats the world now and the past cant be changed ....

the process of finely tuning RAM on a ryzen, is not fun ... and involves a chunk of trial and error ... you plug in some settings, and if windows boots you start a timer for how long until it dies .... its really not a process for everyone ...

if you dont want to experience the full **** around, just lower your ram speed a little from 4000 ( 3200 / 3600 are good choices ) and see if the problem persists ....

Good suggestions :) I may try that, although the ballistix is normally very stable and the board should support ist. No other games crash and in video editing the system runs perfectly smooth. BUT if MWO is way pickier, i should try to go down to 3600

I am also having tons of problems with this game crashing. Ever since I built my new PC this game has become almost unplayable. It crashes 4 times per match. I have already lost almost 2 ranks because of my game crashing and when I come back, my mech is already dead.

My new PC specs are R9 5900X, RTX 3080, 32GB 4000mhz RAM, game is installed on SSD drive. I have latest Nvidia driver and windows 10 is up to date. I also have latest bios from mobo manufacturer. I have already sent probably 20+ crash reports to the devs through the automatic crash reporter tool that pops up when your game crashes.

lowering the speed is kind of like a middle ground step ... its not ideal, but if your game crashes with regularity, it help to clarify that the problem is related ... AVX benchmarking will generally be pretty good at showing problems pretty quickly also ....

the memory chips themselves are also a wild variability, as is the way each motherboard may self-configure each kit ... on my x370 motherboard, each bios version has attempted to configure the chips in different timing patterns ... according to the world, they would be more 'stable' ... but generally speaking, they were never better, in terms of speed, by default ...

another weird thing, is that 4000 mhz chips have been produced for years, and never became overly popular .... the majority of intel users got a pretty good result out of mid grade chips, which has actually led to a weird situation of there being plenty of 'new-old stock', laying around in places .... the first kit that I got for my ryzen, was one such example ... and had a manufacture date, three years before the ryzen .... I never got that kit stable at its rated speeds, 4000 mhz @ CL18 .... but to this day it serves me quite happily in the wife's system ( my first ryzen ) pushing 3200 mhz at CL15 .... eventually i swapped to a flarex kit, rated for 3200 @ CL14 ... and today its pretty happy pushing 3800 @ CL16 ...

and thats the thing about DDR ... its sold to you rated for a speed .... im sure each stick that gets its rating passed certification at those speeds, its just that, the machine used for certification, was not a consumer grade unit ... and hte trick there is that the variability of the motherboards is removed from the equation ... and while intel systems became pretty good at configuring memory when they went to ddr4 .... AMD hasnt shown 'real' improvement on the AM4 socket, the memory controllers themselves are slightly better with each generation, but the haphazard configuration remains ...

and speaking of haphazard bios configurations .... well its pretty much a wild west out there .... most bios's will be feeding your processor more voltage than it needs, while giving the SOC (System On Chip) and DRAM less than they would comfortably take ...

generally most people are using two programs to achieve it, 'Ryzen DRAM Calculator' (https://www.techpowe...ram-calculator/) and 'Thaiphoon Burner' (http://www.softnology.biz/files.html) .... essentially, you 'read' the RAM SPD in thaiphoon, scroll to the bottom of the report, theres a checkbox that says something about show values in nanoseconds, which is what we need, and export a complete html report ... then you import that file into the calculator, configure it a little to match speed / processor / motherboard, save a screenshot / print it and start plugging in some of the values to the bios ...

you might want to start out with the voltage recommendations ... that alone might bring it all in-line ... and check if the IF is running at a 1:1 ratio

on that instance, the connection was lost, either to the server your trying to play on, or the login / auth backend, the message just says what happend, not why it did ...

So my internet connection maybe? Just weird that it started right after the last patch. Trying to run game through steam to see if it more stable. Nope same issue, disconnected every game still unplayable.

you could be facing routing issues. I'd advise you to change the DNS server and see if it gets more stable.

You could try changing the DNS server but that usually only really helps with the patcher. Try to utilize a few different free VPN if you do not have one available for use to check possible connectivity issues.

I would unplug modem and router for approx 30ds before powering back up also.

Besides the above to test items, Is a 3rd party sound pack being used? If so uninstall it.

Could you devs please do an optimization pass on this game so those of us with new hardware can actually play the game?
Maybe work with Nvidia on a new driver that makes this game playable without crashing every 4 seconds? I've just about given up on this game.

I've done all kinds of testing on my PC such as memtes86-zero errors, prime95- zero errors, furmark- zero errors. In fact my GPU never even got hot with furmark. I have literally tried to make my PC unstable or crash and it won't do it but as soon as I boot up Mechwarrior Online my game crashes with 4seconds to 2 minutes of playing. Some times I can play a bunch of matches and not crash at all. Other times I can't even play for 4 seconds without a crash. PC never shuts off, game just crashes to desktop and I send the error report to the devs.

Only error I've ever gotten was dxgi error device removed. I've tried at least 3 different Nvidia drivers and they all crash.

I'm at the point where I'm going to uninstall this game and not spend any money on it with the upcoming mechs since I can't even play the game anymore.

I think you should upgrade to Unreal 4 and then Unreal 5 when it releases. That would make the game run better for everyone, especially those of us with brand new hardware.

Oh I thought I should mention that I am also unable to ALL chat in game. Keybind is set to T but when I press T, nothing happens. I even tried to change it and then change it back to T but it still won't work. It's like my T key does nothing but when I press Y for group chat it magically works and I can type anything with the letter T in it.......
